I’m currently a 3 year member at the Sportsmen Club of Clifton Park. I don’t get out as often as I’d like because of the longer drive. I was looking to see if anyone was or knows someone that’s a member of the Forbes Rifle & Pistol Club or Watervliet Fish and Game protective association in Albany on Rifle Range Road. I was looking a switch or being a member at both clubs but am in need of a sponsor.
^ x2
a guy a work with is a member at one of those clubs on rifle range rd. I will ask him about it on tuesday when he is back in work
i shoot trap/rifle/pistol sometimes at Watervliet Fish and Game with friends who are members.
my .02 on the club is… F that place… its the most anti gun, gun club ive ever seen. i had a application and was ready to join but i dont think i will be joining and supporting them. id rather just go with my friends when they go.
to many assholes who want to bust your balls for stupid shit. i know gun safety is important and should be enforced but thats not what im talking about. some guy came up and yelled about my pistol targets werent out far enough (25 yard minimum). after he was a complete dick about the situation we went and measured. it was about 3 and a half feet from the 25 yard mark. this is the most recent situation, but almost everytime i go there someone is a dick and walks around like a hawk and waits to yell at you for something stupid. im not talking about bad gun handeling or waving a gun around because thats different, im talking about nit picking everything you do.
ive been to other clubs and am a member at other clubs and none of them are like this. people go to shoot and have fun not be yelled at for stupid bullshit.
then theres the “shooting to fast” well lets see, if im holding my shots and grouping my shots and controling my shots, obviously im not shooting to fast am i? is there a speed limit on shooting?
you cant even stand up at the rifle range.
cliff notes: way to strict, way to many rules, everyone wants to tell you how to spend your time/dime, a lot of assholes. even some of my friends who are and have been members are thinking about going elsewhere.
just my .02 but it would be the last place i would support with my money to be ran the way it is.
That’s BS. If you’re a paying member, you should be able to shoot point blank if you want to. I’m thankful I have keys to an abandoned gravel pit that everyone uses to shoot in. This summer I want to buy some watermelons and other shit to shoot. I found some exploding targets today too.
Tribes hill is where I go. No problems ever up there. Just a short range that can get crowded at times
Im trying to get into the Forbes Club as they are the only place around with a 1000 yard range. Theres and agreement with the WFGPA that there members can use the forbes club
tribes hill ftmfw.
1000yd range! Nice!
I go over yonder to West Albany Rod & Gun club.
how many yards is the rifle range
about 100 yards
