What about driving to another state to buy? is that illegal these days?
No it is perfectly legal to bring ammo from another state into NY with no BGC.
Thanks, I doubt they give a shit about me buying .22 anyways
^that seems a lot easier to me but know almost nothing the laws on ammo state-to-state.
no laws about transporting your personal possessions such as ammo. You can buy all you want out of state, the thing is the local shops unfortunately usually can’t compete on the price points of bulk online sites can. I am usually the FIRST one to say support a local guy or a private business/store/shop as opposed to buy cheap online to save a buck… but when times like this are tough I have to go against my belief. My priorities on this matter are this: as of the 15th NYS will not see a DIME of my money for ammunition purchases, sorry Walmart, sorry franks, sorry all the local gun shops. I’m doing my plan as mentioned here buying online shipping to out of state mailbox, or I would rather spend money on gas and send my money to VT, MA, CT, PA to a local gun shop for purchases.
they should be thrilled your buying from them instead of NYS, if someone’s turned down at an out of state shop they are retarded businessmen. They should be ANTICIPAITING the 15th because they will without a doubt get a boost in sales. Hell I would move my gun shop as close to the boarder as I could like the fireworks places do!
Lots of big stores, such as Cabelas are ID’ing people and will only allow in-state purchasers to buy ammo there now apparently.
which is probably discriminatory and somehow illegal. If they are out of state they have no concerns with our laws on this matter. They are ignorant too, the nys bullshit says nothing about buying out of state and bringing it in is illegal, let alone if it was it doesn’t say anything about the seller out of state is liable.
whered you hear this? just curious
Cabelas is definitely not selling ammo to nys residents in ct or pa. Been there done that. Idiots if you ask me
Plenty of other stores that are though.
Dicks, bps, gm…they dont care. Yet anyways. Although i wouldnt really buy ammo from them anyway unless they just happen to have a caliber i really needed.
I get ammo from nc. :). Tis my hookup
someone give me a recap
why can’t I buy ammo here?
You can buy ammo in the state, just by law must be froman ffl or registered seller of the state. You can no longer buy it online and have it shipped to your door.
Once nysp gets its(unfortunate) act together to purchase ammunition in this state you will need to have a bcg(background check). Now while the law states that there is no charge for ths and that thestate isnt collecting money on it, there is nothing preventing and ffl/lgs from charging a fee to runthe bcg, since it is their time or employee labor involved in doing so. Said fee could bee $5 or thestore could beanass and charge $20. Nobody knows, except that this is slated for every sale. There is no indication at this time that there will be a system implimented like an ammo buyers cardblikeCT currently has.
Itsall bullshit that does zippo to prevent crime and only hurts legal law abiding gun owners. But they already know that…
Sooooo, save money and buy ammo out of state on a road trip. Or buy onlineandship to family/friends out of state and go get it.
can i buy ammo in another state like iowa ( ill be going the next month ) and ship it to myself? or is that a no no?
I don’t see a single law about shipping your own property back to yourself, so yes.
The pure simplicity to circumvent this asinine law in this state blows my mind and proves how useless it really is in the grand scheme of things.
hmmmmmmmm i might have to do this
Ups you must declare the contents as being ammunition. If the box breaksopen mid transit and youdidnt you can get some serious fines.
Fedex dont give two fucks…
Usps dont even think bout it.
good to know :number1
well yeah your not trafficing drugs in teddy bears! lol There is no harm in shipping your own ammo. Tell the person at the counter Cuomo is a cunt and im shipping ammo i bought out of state to circumvent his dumb ass back to my home. They label the box and take your money.
USPS I stopped dealing with for shipping a long time ago beasue of many miss routed boxes, dickheads at the counter and everything else.
UPS will ship it: scroll to the bottom. http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/packaging/guidelines/firearms.html
Fedex will too as mentioned.
Its game on for me. I have 5 people on board to rent a mailbox. I personally just bought a piss ton of ammo to stock the shelf (all of which was shipped to me fedex fwiw) and funds are tapped out so I dont need anything myself for a while… but wouldnt mind taking a ride with friends to VT for a half day trip for something to do… so hit me up if ya want to go up.
I called the UPS store in Rutland. Spoke to a nice lady there.
Small box $10/mo, medium box $15/mo, Large box $20/mo.
3,6,9,12 month contracts avail. 6 months gets you 1 free month, 9 months gets your 2 free months, 12 mont gets you 3 free months.
just need 2 forms of ID. Credit cards are not ID. Drivers LIC, work ID badge, cell phone bill, etc.
I asked her flat out if there would be a problem with ammunition/firearms. She laughed and said I recognized your area code and knows about the NYS bullshit we are dealing with! AWESOME! She said they dont have a license to ship she knows that for a fact, BUT she said she didnt see any problem recieving OMRD. She took my information and is going to have the store manager get back to me to be sure.
damn that’s cheap
