No one really died… post by VWVortex Mod:
Myself and a few of my moderator cohorts agreed that this thread should be stuck for it’s entertainment value, however it will also serve as both a warning against the potential for being scammed as well as a template for reacting to being scammed. Enjoy.
Super elaborate:
I just concluded the most absurd transaction of my life. Everything you are about to read actually happened, although at times I had to pinch myself to make sure this was real life.
On 1/29/2016 found an ad on the MK2 classifieds that was selling what appeared to be a mint set of Rallye headlamps with core support.
I contacted OeM_+++ and we worked out a deal. I requested more detailed pictures of the lights and he provided them quickly. I did a Google search to make sure these weren’t obviously stolen from somewhere. They all came out good, he didn’t appear to have stolen them (more on this later). So we agreed on a price of $950 including shipping and I immediately sent a Paypal to the address he provided. This was an account owned by a Marta Truchan. OeM_+++ assured me that these lights and core support would be shipped via air. A few days later I got a tracking number and immediately became suspicious. The weight (2.6kg) was less that I would have expected, and according to the Polish post office, it was sent out via ground / sea. I decided to wait until I received the package, maybe the info on the Polish post office website was incorrect (as USPS often is).
On 3/29/2016 I came home from work and saw a package on my front porch. I immediately knew what I had suspected was true. I’d been royally fist f*cked.
Inside that package was supposed to be $950 in Rallye headlights and a core support. Instead what I got what this:
I immediately shot off a PM to OeM_+++ that contained things I dare not repeat publicly. I expected him to slip off into the dark abyss of the internet, never to be heard from again. Instead what began was a series of the most bizarre exchanges I have ever been a part of in my 15 years on VWvortex. He responded:
Wow, he responded. With complete bullsh!t, but he responded. So at this point I start to take a closer look at the package that was sent. It appeared to have a return name and address, but surely this guy wasn’t going to use his real name and address to commit a crime? Right?
Just for fun, and not expecting to find anything, I run the name through Google with his name and the term “VW”. A Facebook page came up. I can’t believe what I’m seeing, it says he’s in a relationship with Marta Truchan, the same name on the Paypal account he used. This dumsh!t used his real name, address and his girlfriends real name and legit Paypal account to scam me. So I start saving pictures of him, his car, and his girlfriend. I make up a nice little FB post and start to post it to VW pages and any Polish VW pages that I can get a hold of. Apparently this guy is big into the scene in Poland because things start to happen quick.
He is immediately messaging me, apparently upset that I am ruining his good name all over Poland.
Things are beginning to pick up steam now. People from Poland are messaging me saying they are hassling him to return the money he stole. Other VWvortex members are coming forward, sharing similar stories of fist f*ckings at the hands of this guy. I am furiously messaging every Polish VW page and show that has featured his car to let everyone know what a sh!tbag this guy is. He somehow convinced Paypal to get me to ship his junk back to him on my dime. I don’t think so. So I mailed him a bag of dicks to eat and gave Paypal the tracking number. At this point between him and his girlfriend I have probably exchanged over 100 messages. They are giving me the same run around BS all the time. Then last night I get the following string of messages from Marta:
…and for the finale, a hand written suicide note, with my name in CAPITAL LETTERS, blaming me her for demise:
At this point, most of my brain is thinking, this is BS. But, part of me is wondering if maybe this girl is legitimately crazy and I just pushed her over the edge. Well, I didn’t have to wait long for an answer to that question.
What a mom. Her daughter just tried to commit suicide because of some a$$hole American, and her first thought is to drop me a line and tell me I have 24hrs to delete all the stuff about them, and specifically the stuff on their local club page. I never posted to that page, someone shared that, but thanks for giving me another inroad to screw with you. So she threatens to call the police, and I tell her I’d be happy to contact the local police since Mr. Bigus was nice enough to give me his home address.
Finally, after I have called them out one last time on their BS she says she sent my money back. I’m not sure if she actually did it or Paypal finally closed the claim, happy with my bag o’ dicks tracking number I sent them.
The end.
