I recently broke some bones in my hand and have 2 pins in it. Was wondering if they take them out the same way they put them in? As to putting me under again and all that same stuff. thanks.

Depends, some pins stay in forever, other pins I believe they pull them out. I can ask my father tonight If I talk to him, He had his hand reconstructed years ago.

lol no well kinda. haha. went out for the sisters 21st bday, got drunk, punched a sign after a little argument and after surgery got 2 pins put in. The doctor said they are not going to stay in but was wondering if they take them out the same way they put them in.

I guess I have the most experience out of everyone that has posted so far…
Anyways I broke my leg multiple times to the point where it just couldn’t heal, so they put a titanium rod in my lower leg ( like don beebe ). Eventually the screws and pins had to come out, so they gave me local anesthesia in my bottom half with a screen blocking my view.
I was extremely groggy, and nothing hurt, however I shit you not, I could hear the power drill taking the screws out and I felt every single rotation. Same when they pulled the pins out. It didn’t hurt at all obviously, but I could still feel it.
Totally fucked up feeling my man.

They will prob not put you under a general anesthetic. More likely you’ll get a local injection and they’ll just pull them out. My buddy got his pulled out with no anesthesia right in the office. He said it hurt, though.
that just sounds fucked up…i just cant wait to get them out so i can play hockey again. My team needs me ya know. Ill be out till mid july and its killing me.
I should have the gf video tape them pulling them out but she would prob puke or pass out befor or during. lol
