Wrist pin question

Just curious if it’s possible to remove press-fit wrist pins using the reverse of the heat up the small end and insert a chilled pin This method is used frequently in Hondas). I don’t intend to reuse these pistons (or pins) and don’t want to purchase a press just yet.

Before someone says “go to the machine shop”, it’s not going to happen. My car is down, and the wife doesn’t get home early enough to make it anywhere that’s open.

you will most likely ruin the piston when you remove the pin. If you dont care about the piston, then hack away… i assume your after the rods…

Right, only the rods will be reused. I’ve installed lots of wrist pins using a light duty torch with great success, but I’ve never removed them this way.

drop them off here and i will take to machine shop for you. i usually head down that way often. i can take during business ours if needed

Thanks Jeff, I may send other-Jeff out with them, along with my valve cover…I need two -10AN bungs (which I have already) welded on…if you’re up to it that is. There will be beer/food compensation as well as monetary…:cookie:

I have a press at my house if you want to bring them over. Your welcome to use it.

I sent you a PM…that’ll be much easier for me to do. Thanks

So you don’t need me to take them out to Jeff. Will you make up your damned mind already!
