broken ankle people, come in

well, long story short, I broke my ankle on friday…at my stag of all fucking places. I don’t even remember how or when it happened. All I remember is late in the night I noticed my foot starting to hurt a little bit, but still able to walk, and it got progressively worse. Figured I just sprained it bad so I went home and went to bed, ignorantly hoping I would wake up and it would feel better. It didn’t. Went to the rural care center on Southwestern(which was a fucking joke by the way), and they told me it’s broken and may require surgery.

So, I have to call in to the specialist in about 15 minutes to setup an appointment for today to get a cast, and see if surgury is needed. The doc mentioned possibly needing a screw put in. *The worst part is my wedding is next saturday the 30th :purextc:

Has anyone had a broken ankle before? What did they do for you? Did you need surgery? If so, how quickly did they do the surgery? Also, did they need to reset it? Its been 3 days now and I get the feeling resetting it will be pain like whoa.

All I can say is this fucking sucks hardcore, and the timing couldn’t be any worse. I guess it’s karma for making fun of poor people :ohnoes:

Its a sign. Don’t get married :stuck_out_tongue:

fiance must be pissed lol

i broke my fibula was suppose to take about 3 months with a cast i believe i healed fast and got the cast off in 2 months

No idea what you’re in for; but my surgeon is one of the best Ortho’s out there; myself and a bunch of other members on this board have been repaired by him.

I’ve been cut open twice by him for my knees and have to be again next year (We didn’t completely fix my Right knee this year; only part of it; so next year he’s going to finish the repair. (Meniscus repair this year; ACL replacement next year)

Wow. Your ankle pain probably won’t hold a candle to what your fiance is going to do to you if you can’t stand for the ceremony. Poor bastard…

lol, ya, she’s a little pissed, but not as bad as I figured she would be.

97Formula, thanks for that!! I may be contacting him if this guy I go see today is a douche.

just perfect, she says the guy is booked today, but will see if she can fit me in and call me back. :banghead:

I broke my ankle in 7 different places at once. I had a screw put in. They reset my ankle on the spot (probably about 3 hours after it happened). It was painful but I was all morphine’d up so I didn’t really give a shit.

My hand I broke my 4th and 5th metacarpal, it was in a cast for about a week before they broke it to reset it. I had to have 2 plates and 4 screws put into each metacarpal, I remember waking up from surgery and it felt like someone had taken a hammer and crushed my hand repeatedly…

Sorry for the input, but you’re going to be in some shit ass pain. Depending on where you broke your ankle, and how large the pin/screw/plate is, you MIGHT be able to put a boot over your hard cast and limp down the isle.

thanks for the honest input Daddie, even if it’s a bit scary, lol.

Is it normal procedure for them to morph you up when resetting? Im just praying they dont do it while I’m stone sober. IT hurts enough as it is, I couldnt imagine what restting will feel like. ugh.

Tough luck. Did you see your tailor about adjusting the pants to fit over the cast? Looks like you’ll be getting married with a black sock stretched over your foot. :tif:

I hope you’ve come up with a really entertaining story to tell when you speak at your reception. If you haven’t, I’m sure someone here can come up with something extravagant.

lol, unfortunately this will undoubtably be a story I’ll never live down for the remainder of my life.

As of now I still don’t have a cast on it. I have an appointment at 5pm to go see what the deal is, and if i’ll need surgery or just a cast. Once that gets figured out, then I’ll have to look into options for tailoring

screw a sock, I’m gonna marble it like my car

:inb4cuntpuntvideo: Hope everything works out OK for you.

lol, that reminds me…I am NOT ok

I have had A LOT of broken bones. Well at least comparatively to everyone I know. I have a plate with 7 screws in my forearm that had to be reset and then surgery. Having it reset actually felt good in a certain way because it relieved some of the pressure. Yeah, it hurts but you just need to put yourself in the right mindset for it.

Surgery however…that was the most excruciating pain I have felt ever. It sucks…plain and simple. Mine hurt for a few days after the surgery. I also had pins with my plate and screws that they removed without any anestia. That also sucked. haha. That allllmost made me pass out which was pretty funny to watch the nurse or whatever freak because I am 6’5" 275lb and would probably went down PRETTY hard.

Just have the right mindset about everything and it will be fine.

:word: lol

Haha, I was careful on my stag night, the bus we were in got in a fight in front of Quote, I was not there at the min.to take part of any of it. If I had a black eye my girl woulda be hella pissed.

I broke my fibula 3+ years ago (spiral fracture). I have a plate and 6 screws in it. It put me out of commission for 2 months. It also tore my ligament. I was pretty much on a couch for most of the 2 months. Hurt like a MF’er. I had a full cast and wasn’t able to drive or walk on it.

After 2 months they had the cast removed and started physical therapy. In the early months, it was hard for me to even stand up or stay upright without it swelling and causing me too much pain.

My right leg lost a lot of its strength and endurance and it took a while to build it back.

The doctor I had was highly recommended through Millard Suburban. Dr Chertack <sp> He has an office on Main Street in Williamsville.

If its that bad, get your ass to the hospital. Not doing you any good sitting at home.

ankles are the worst, usually a few moths to heal, and seeing how youre getting married, im assuming your older so that will only slow down the process. i know more than a few people that had screws put in and most of them it still bothers ( not looking to scare you) but hey if the wife sticks around now knowing you were doing backflips etc to injure your ankle at a stag then id marry her lol

good luck man
