These are really sweet, its a google tv that plugs into your tv via hdmi, you can get one with a wireless keyboard and mouse or supply your own. it runs android 4.0 and has google play, i would deff love one of these.
Good point, I stumbled upon this and thought it was different, I love the roku2 I told my dad to get one but he’s cheap lol. Jam I have a htpc that I spent about $10 on a mce remote it was a Christmas newegg special.
I’m really picturing you as one of those people who have their flat screen tv sitting on top of an old console tv like this (I can even see your htpc in this pic):
I’m thinking about building a Raspberry Pi just to mess with it running XBMC. They finally solved the issue with Mpeg2 decoding by allowing you to purchase your own individual codec license for about $4 (it’s 2.40 UK)
^ the US site says the have 100 ready to ship. I ordered mine on Monday and I am getting it tomorrow.
Not sure mine will be any kind of astonishing build. I am either going to go Android 4.0 with it or just go with Raspbmc or xbmc. Raspbmc is xbmc optimized for the device. We will see how it all turns out. As for a case goes, I am probably just going to build a “siq” case out of legos and Velcro it to the back of my tv and hook up my rasp pi up to the tv(wall mounted) for a power source so when the tv gets flipped on my pi goes on. Then I will probably just do remote controls through smart phones for now. Eventually I would like to get a remote or program an existing one. I am planning on just streaming and serving files from my desktop which i will purpose into a server.
Installed Raspbmc on my SD card this a.m. and I am trying to retrieve the rest of the download via ethernet at work and its not working. Something tells me they are blocking the necessary port I guess I will have to wait till I get home later
