heat/ac fan not working

car: 1990 honda accord ex

pretty much the problem is that when i turn the knob to turn up the fan on the heat/ac, it doesnt turn on. Fuses are all good. Getting some kind of voltage coming from the wires on the switch and they do change when the knob is turned, but its not much voltage. when i press the buttons to change which vents to use, i can hear it swap the vents.

u guys think its the switch in the dash?

or is it the fan itself?

sounds like the fan itself. that or the resistor for the fan speed went, that happened on my dads truck

fuckin aye.

i really dont want to have to tear apart that car to get to the fan

bump for more opinions

does the fan move on ANY setting at all? or never?

never

sorry, sounds like the fan motor

every time i think about ripping the dash out of that car, i die a little inside

its gonna be a long saturday

you shouldn’t have to rip the dash apart to replace the fan motor. A trip to M+M to get a fan motor and about a half hour under the passenger side dash. That should be all it will take. Good luck

wanna elaborate on that a bit?

you should see my 98 civic. I have the whole dash, seats, wiring, and motor off the damn shit. Im hoping to put everything back this weekend.
The fan motor is not that hard to take off,. I think all you have to do is remove the glove box and a couple 10mm bolts and wuala…

Good Luck!

Sorta what he said

nice

i really hope its that easy, i guess ill find out when i get to m&m

went to m&m and got the blower motor and the control unit.

it was a bust, installed both, no good

ended up being the blower relay. that sucked. worked on it all day, but alas it works and the g/f will be nice and warm this winter

How do you check the relay and where is it located?

its in the fuse panel thats under the dash on the driver side. u will see a bunch of relays. the heat/ac fan is in the row closest to the fuses, so the bottom row of relays, and is right in the middle.

consult the shop manual to test it

Thanks!
