Heater is putting strain on engine ?

Since these last couple days were hot, i didn’t put my heater on when i drove around. Today i put it on and noticed how messed up the engine was. It was 500 rpm’s higher then it normally is at certain speeds, and the car accelerated like my sentra, ewww. The belts squeel alot when you put the heater on, however the belt dressing stuff hasn’t helped. Does anyone know why the heater is putting such a load on the engine.

By the way, since i m talking about the heater. My heater sucks. it blows more cold air then it does warm. Does everyone have this problem, or is something wrong with my heater.

you need to change your thermostat and flush the coolent that is why you have no heat

if you put it on full defogger mode, the A/C compressor will turn on putting load on the engine.

if your missing the A/c compressor, rpm will just climb around 500rpm

your heater core could be plugged, causing no heat

the belt squealing is the alternator resisting… if your car is basically stock without any fancy amps and shit in the back, chances are your alternator and/or battery harness(es) are corroded, also check all the harness ground straps, unscrew+sand+reattach them

interesting, i 'll check all this stuff and try to find the problem, the fluids will be changed shortly just waiting for the stupid weather to calm down.
