I’m gonna go outside of fuck my car up. But before i do, When your heater only goes on at the Highest setting “blower setting”, Does that normally mean the switch is bad or the motor?
switch or a relay
it was a relay for my ac
lol, Now to find out where it is and which one it is then!
if this is the ford in your av then it’s most likely the relay.
-edit- come to think of it, it’s probably the resistor in the blower motor, or the connector for it. all the other heater settings use the resistor, only the wide open setting does not. you’ll probably need to replace the resistor, or clean the connections.
try wiggling the plug that goes into the resistor. it is located below where the heater hoses go through at the firewall on the engine side.
check here for pics, 14th picture down on that link shows the exposed side of the resistor that is inside the blower box, and the 18, 19, and 20th pics show the opening in the blower box where the resistor block goes.
None of the above. It’s going to be the blower motor resistor. The high setting is full power, not sent through the resistor. Trust me on this one. I’m definitely right.
^^:word: my dads truck had the same problem and it ended up being the relay. the guy at the parts department was nice enough to tell him to buy that rather than the whole new unit because it was a very common problem, worked like a charm.
yep def the resistor i just changed mine in my truck along with the blower motor. i got mine from howbill for 20 bucks along with the motor for 45…easy diy too
so which was it? mine is doing the same thing on my 91 jimmy. real annoying its either sweat yer ass off or freeze yer nuts off.
Right on. If it only works on the high setting or the higher settings like 3 and up it is the blower motor resistor. It usually isn’t too expensive even if you have to go to the stealership.
