helmet law

helments rule!!!

One argument that was considered in favor of the no helmet law acctually suggests that you have a better chance of surviving a crash without a wearing a helmet. By wearing no helmet the skull is fractured and the fracture helps aliviate the pressure from the brain swelling caused by blunt forced trauma to the head from a crash. Some people also argue 99% of motorcyle accidents over 30mph will kill a rider weather he/she is wearing a helmet or not.

yea i heard that one. something like if you have a helment on your head swells inside
the helment to a point that it can be dangerous.

on the other note i hate getting hit with shit in the face. so i wear my helment with my
visor.

ive been in numerous motorcycle accidents over 30mph… and to my knowledge ive survived them all… im sure my helmet has saved my life several times…

i would be nice to see actual national statistics on fatalities due to motorcycle crashes. I am still in favor of people wearing helmets. I think they save lives.

The no helmet law is only good for 3 years anyways. I guess they will review all the stats and decide weather its to keep it or not.

most ppl riding anyways dont have the proper riding training or even have
licenses. and these are the ones getting hurt with no helments. i see a lot
of more experienced riders still wearing helments.

what looks funny is when someone on a sportbike wears a turtle shell for a
helment. like that is going to do something.

alright, look… it’s helmet, not helment…

err… bullshit

Think of the medical costs involved that then turn into tax dollars, increase health insurance costs, etc, etc. Or the fact that while your dumbass didn’t wear a helmet it ties up a ambulance/medivac while someone else who might have needed it needs it.

Your stupidity affects more than what you think, I admit I’m not a fan of telling me what I can and can’t do but, I do understand why we must do things we do.

I just don’t think the goverment has the right to tell me what to do. I am an adult and can make decisons by myself. I could see a law it it affected other people, but seat belts and helmets affect the 1 person only. my $.02

Bullshit again,

Most of the people that have ridden substantially has gone down, it doesn’t take a lot to go down.

  • loose rocks
  • wet/oil spots (really suck)
  • potholes
  • metal bridge covers + rain = BAM

And on bike night down here at QSL, it’s amazing after the helmet law was passed I’d say over half did NOT have helmets on. With their kids on the back with helmets…

WOOHOO watch dad splat!

My dumb ass always wears a helmet when I ride.
And freedom is more important than money to me.
I also think that purging the gene pool of retards is good every now and then.

im with altima on this one… personal freedoms is very important. you cant legislate against stupidity. Its not like people dont know the risks associated with not wearing a helmet. If they choose to not wear one, its their own stupid fault. They know the potential consequences… Fuck, you could wear a helmet every time you drove your car to the supermarket. If you were in a serious accident, then there is a good chance it could save you from kissing your windshield. I sure hundreds if not thousands of lives would have been saved if the person would have been wearing a helmet in a car accident. But its not a law, and no one complains about it…

a lot of laws are made to protect us from stupid people. such as laws against drinking and driving.

protecting other from stupid people != protecting people from themselves

after laying down a bike, i cant imagine how anyone would ever want to ride without one…
