turned out to be a rotted turbo coolant line, and quite a bit of cooked electrical. Engine is perfect, but will also need oil change and tune up.
battery box getting installed, type-x cluster done, hatch wiring/repair (complete) and fusebox with some relays (for radiator incl. thermal sensoring) being made/repaired
