Ok well my wife really wants seating for 5 and a truck based vehicle for a new daily. She only drives maybe 5-10 mile a day, as we use my truck for almost 100% of our driving.
I want something that is cool and won’t loose a ton of value.
She currently drives a lifted 2008 z71 Colorado. I’ll probably post that for sale as soon as I get my Trans Am on the road so she can drive that until we find something new for her.
I’m currently looking at the following:
2008 up Silverado/GMC Vmax or Denali trucks. I would ideally like a L92 truck and I would probably end up putting a cam and slight lift on it. I’d deal with a 6.0L truck.
Low Mileage SRT-10 with a Novi. I really have no idea about viper trucks, but a friend has one with a novi 2000 and 25K miles I wouldn’t mind owning. I think it is like 640whp/680wtq.
A super clean Trailblazer SS. She doesn’t want a Saab 9-7x even though I think its cool, she thinks its ugly. If we got one of these it would get a cam, stall and built tranny asap.
Any other ideas? She doesn’t like imports, so no import trucks/suv’s. I was also thinking about a new Tahoe but they are kind of plan and I’d loose like $10K driving it off the lot. The 4 door Ford Rapter is nice but I don’t really want to spend $55K right now.
She wants either something lifted and offroad looking (4 door pickup) or something sporty.
Something like this would be sweet if it was low low mileage.
I was really leaning towards the viper truck, does anyone know about any reliability on these things? I know nothing about them other then they are all autos and obviously have the viper engine. I think the novi is at 8psi. How long will the engine last with it? Blowers been on this truck since new.
The viper truck originally came with a 6 speed if I recall correctly. TBSS’s are pretty sweet and pretty reliable. You could probably get away with a RWD one in texas too. Although mine could be let go for sure…
Yah I don’t even want a truck but I have one as I need to haul stuff for work occasionally. For some reason my wife just likes trucks, probably something similar to my liking of going fast. Who knows why anyone likes anything? lol
The quad cab viper trucks definitely only come in auto. I don’t mind if I need to wrench on it a little, but I don’t want to have to rebuild the engine anytime soon.
Is she going to be putting on a lot of miles? I’d def go TBSS out of this group but for a daily single digit MPG (viper truck) vs. even 16 in a RWD TBSS will make a decent difference if gas stays high, and on the resale. My AWD TBSS dumped $5k off its value within a month the first time gas went into the $4’s.
EDIT: Missed that she doesn’t drive much. Carry on.
If you go TBSS I happen to have an NX wet kit jetted into a New Era CAI for it, along with a custom bottle bracket mount that secures to the back cargo tie-downs and snky switchplate install, if that’s something you’d be interested in… :tspry:
