I have a nividia 8600 gs card installed on the desktop…how should i go about doing this lol so i can use both monitor as a workable area. do i just plug the other monitor into the nivida card and one to the factory vga motherboard pport?
Does the 8600GS have dual outputs? if so just go that way; if not, I’m not sure.
in the Nvidia control panel you can setup a dual monitor configuration.
The nivida has a dvi and vga and the motherboard itself had a dvi and vga so does that mean I can run quad-monitor?
not 100% sure, but I believe you need 2 video cards w/dual outputs to run a quad display setup… never looked into it much.
however, if you’re running dual monitors I suggest you checkout a program called Ultramon. It works great and adds some much needed functionality to systems running more than one monitor (a taskbar for the second monitor for instance)
you need two video cards that share the same driver. IE nvidia 6600gt and 6800gs will work since they share the same driver. This is for quad support

Pretty much every card nvidia makes they made a huge push to consolidate thE drivers.
Another note if you have two outputs it does not mean that you can have a dual monitor set up. Modern cards have that capability so it’s probably youare able to
