Help me spec a computer....

I already decided im going over the price

If we had a Fry’s around here you could get so many great deals, like an I7 860 and Biostar mobo for 280. Depending on your new budget I’d go I7 920, I7 860, or I5 750.

I second that i7 920

Well since work decided to give me a lot more money today my plans changed…

I just ordered a AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz/mobo combo from newegg…which im going to use for now while I build up a i7 in a new case.

eww AMD is fggt shit…dont use it for long

 I was just mirroring someone elses setup I know works well for what I need to do…

I need to build a bunch of virtual machines for a lab in the next week so I needed something I know works…Hopefully neweggs over night processes quickly.

Now I can shop around for a good setup.

Agreed AMD is garbage. Enjoy the new trash can. There’s a reason they are borderline declaring bankruptcy.

This is for work, fuck doing it on a budget: http://store.apple.com/us_smb_78313/configure/MB535LL/A?mco=MTM3NDc3NjI

Why are you homos recommending an older Bloomfield chip, when the Lynnfield are less expensive and faster?

Provided Lynnfield are running Dualchannel only, versus Bloomfields Triple.
bloomfields socket also allows to upgrading to future 6/8 core CPUs, but… irrelevant at this moment in time.

Get a mother fucking Lynnfield.

P.S.
If you can, hold off for new eggs BF specials!
That’s what I’m doing -.-

1156 > 1366 Currently.

AMD is garbage?? How exactly??? Best bang for the buck if you ask me…

Absolutely, is you want a low end chip with low end performance.

what happened to AMD being good for gaming and doing more with less speed or whatever…then again last time I was shopping around Barton cores were the thing with the better cache and I haven’t opened my case except to wiggle a power wire in a loooong time.

AMD used to work with less power than intel…keywords “used to”.

You have no idea what your talking about

Intel is leading the CPU wars by a large margin. AMD has a lot of work to do if it wants to compete with the I series chips.
AMD was good for gaming when people were building gaming PCs around an AGP card… Once the P4 was outdated and the dual cores, core 2 duos and core 2 quads and then finally the "I"s came… AMD has been trailing and only AMD fanboys and people with contracts have been buying them.

I7 920 (last time I checked) was the best bargain for quad core CPU worth building a PC around. It was unobtainable for most due to the fact that it was a new chipset, so you just have to buy a new MOBO, RAM and the I7. They are cheaper now than when I built mine. A $30 cooler will get you to 4ghz… with hyperthreading.

6gb of 2000mhz OCZ Gold RAM is less than $150.
A great EVGA X58 mobo will run you a little over $200.

Just because you have a lot of GPUs doesn’t mean they are good. You have another post about a PC running 9 monitors… chances are, if you have a closet full of GPUs, they aren’t going to support what you’re looking for. Most people don’t have a surplus of quality video cards sitting around. I only know a handful of people that do. Sticking 3 video cards into a machine isn’t that easy to do.

lol… weren’t you just tryign to harass me about my build? And here you are…

Fo real stuffing one video card into a case is bad enough nowadays…

If you’re pulling out the stops go with something like this. It’ll more then handle what your going to throw at it.

Plus SCSI is really going to be the best option IMO they perform much better, 32mb buffer, 15k rpm, 4.7 sec seek time and a 3+ gbs transfer rate. Yum! plus with scsi there really is no limit to the amount of drives you can add to it.

Intel Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Processor $960
Asus P7P55 WS Mother Board $230
G.SKILL Perfect Storm ddr3 2133 Ram 6gb $250
Seagate Cheetah ST3300656SS SCSI HD - $300

To do it on a budget I’d go this route. That’ll put you close to the $600 mark. you can skimp a little more on the ram and MB to save you a little bit more if you need to…

AMD Phenom II X4 965 $190
Asus M4A79T $180
G.SKILL Perfect Storm ddr3 2133 Ram 6gb $250
Sata HD of your choice.

Hope this helps.

The i9s should be out in the near future

the AMD k8 architecture used less power than intel. That was back aroun 2004 during intels P4 days

You fucking moron LZ, you don’t need 8GB of RAM< you need a better video card, fucktard.
