Help me spec a computer....

My other post about multiple monitors is for a completely different project.

How many motherboards do you have that will handle 3 decent GPUs?

0?

Are you using PCI cards? :retard:

I think he was simply stating that some video cards and huge and tough to make fit around the tight area of the ever growing CPU fans, RAM sinks, etc.

Asus just released one that supports 4 way sli/crossfire.

4-way SLI for only $1699.99

^ Ah EVGA, that’s who it was…that comes with the cards too. I think my next setup will just be 2 cards.

lol. Exactly. I was just teasing him… I just installed a PCI card. For the 2nd time in my life.

EVGA reduced the cost of the Classified shortly after I bought my X58… and now you can run 3 GTX 295s for a total of 6 GPUs… but the MOBO is $300 and the cards are still $500 each.

Total waste of money IMO. It will be outdated in a month anyway.

Do you have a cheaper alternative for running 6 monitors from a desktop?
Seriously, I’m curious.

The classified will only be outdated when USB 3.0 comes out (if it comes out)… and the GTX295 hasn’t depreciated or been given a run for its money since it came out a long time ago.

Outdated can be applied to anything.

Obviously already is, as ATI is the top performer graphics wise with their lastest release. (and possibly pre their latest)

and fitting one fit card in a case is tough sometimes!
the newest ati is 13.5" long.

Given a run for it’s money as in performance wise?

“ATI Radeon HD 5970 2GB: The World’s Fastest Graphics Card”

even says it in the title!
they did do a price/performance comparison sometime… didn’t pay attention to it really though.

I wasn’t aware of that card… its been a couple weeks since I’ve been on Toms.

That being the case… the conclusion clearly states that the ATI is faster, but not a better bargain. When you’re comparing a $500 card to a $600 card… the performance gains should be more significant.

Now that ATI has released the card (assuming it is available) the GTX 295’s price should be coming down, to stay attractive.

For LZ, if he was shopping for a video card, this would certainly be an attractive piece, and I would recommend it over the 295. It is a monster of a card and supports 3 monitors right out of the box.
