help modding plz

sounds like you’ve been reading the packaging verbatim. $1000 is a good bit of money, but it’s a small amount when it comes to making HP with a car.

as everyone else has said, the big power numbers would come with FI. for $1000, start with header, intake, exhaust. i don’t know much about it, but i believe the venom is a piggyback that just dumps more fuel into the engine. i don’t think you should waste your time with that. i may be wrong about that as i don’t know anything about cougars.

thats what i wanted to do its actually kelly blue booked around 4500 last time i checked, but i havent finished paying it off yet one more year plus my parents are ticked that i want a faster car:spank: i tried this morning with a camaro in the classafieds but no luck yet. so in the meantime i was going to make with wat i had, ive looked at all the options trust me its just best to mod it a little.
As for the venom 400, if anybody has one plz post how it works, from what the company claims it shifts the automatic faster. ie>not a two sec. delay. i think you guys are right on with the whole tricking the computer thing although they claim to increase hp. can anybody conform, this was one of the things that i was going to buy.

Thanks,
Shane

dont waste your money on this car if you plan to get out of it somwhere in the near future.

no man just want some speed thats all, if i a job in the career that im heading into ill be able to afford a corvette in cash the first year. Im just using this for the first two years of college. i agree it wont be the fastest just want to be above average.

 Nothing like counting your chickens before they hatch.

i understand that, but the amount of work needed to put you “above average” far exceeds leaving it alone and getting something a lil quicker to start.

or are you one of those red light warriors?

Shoulda started with a GTP or something else that responds to mods decently…you can put $100 into a GTP and have a kinda fun car to drive…with way more HP than you will get out of that cougar with 1K

find a project car for sale somewhere so you can slowly put money into something and also have something to drive everyday.

yeah… shoulda started with a GTP :hsdance: :tool:

i like that idea, so everybody agrees its not worth putting money into it. And as for counting the chickens before they hatch i should have that job if not then ill at least be making enough, to do something with a newer better car than i have. No matter what im going to college and since the average pay for starting engineers are substanitial i should have a decend pay to afford better, And i believe i used the term IF NOT WHEN i get a job. but for now ill take burnyd’s idea and find a nice cheap car and make it fast!!! thanks everybody any more advice would be nice but ill look into finding a decend repairable car.

i wonder where burnyd finally got the idea:hsugh:
it only took 3 trans later to realize don’t race your daily driver

I suggest buying a 1g DSM, you can pick up one pretty cheap to make a good base, and then just build it up.

but he wants something reliable and Im a dsm’er at heart

 hey they are decent rides and are pretty cheap…nice DD’s…and for $100 you can crack into the 13’s. Not a bad deal in my eyes for a DD.

No this is for his 2nd/project car. DSM’s are fine for that.

I would recommend a project car as well. If you have 1,000-2,000 dollars, you can easily get something you can sink money into from time to time. A daily driver is just that, for getting you from point A to B. I learned this the hard way.

well thanks everybody i think its unanamous< (spelling idk) that getting a project car is better than wasting my money modding the cougar. Ill start looking as soon as i get back from vacation…plus i just got a new job today so i should(see i used should not will so nobody can say the hatching egg comment lol) have an extra few thousand to put into a car!!!
