I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu with the 3100, I had the lower intake gasket done Dec 2008, and am almost certain I need it done again as I am getting white smoke out of the tail pipe and some research tells me that the oil and coolant are mixing
anyone able to do this for under $500 or know someone who will ???
also I really do not want to drive the car far, I live in Natrona Hts 15065 about 20 miles NE of Pittsburgh
in addition I need the common rust problem near the gas door done for as few $$ as possible

head gaskets like to leak on those too. i wouldn’t count that out.
That job is a pain in the ass even for $400. I know why dealers charge so much for it.
so does anyone think I should just get another engine and swap ?? i have been looking at it seems one with 60k goes for what this repair will cost, I have 130k on mine
also would anyone come out to me and take a look ??? I could give you like $20 or so

Why not get a friend and a service manual and do it yourself? It’s not hard, it’s just an annoying job. You can save a ton of money, I think the FelPro new style gasket kit is like $100.
