ok so last night i blew my head gasket apparently, i didnt know this until today driving it, it overheated like crazy, so i shut it off, not knowing my gasket was blown i added more coolant to my rad, i drove it home, i was almost home and my oil light comes on, so i pull over at west ed and check my oil, its this light brownish cream color and its ALL the way up my dipstick, i guess its the coolant mixing with the oil that makes it that way, so i got it towed like 5 blocks home, 60 bucks later, so i was wondering how much work is involed changing the head gasket, how much it would be, and if theres anyone out there that would do it cheap?? i know the parts are about $180, cause my buddies 240 had the same problem a while back, but is there anyone out there that would be willing to do it for cheap, possibly this week sometime before saturday?
If your doing it, probably a day to remove and a day to replace.
your going to have to flush your oil system really well, i had that happen with my old 5 litre mustang, it will make alot of white smoke when the anti freeze burns off in the oil res. so clean it out very well!!!
Thats a big job considering whats involved. I couldn’t see anyone charging you less than about 300 bones just in labor to do it. Plus you should do the timing afterwards.
a mechanic fixes cars on the side at my work, hes gonna do it monday for 250 $, and i get parts at cost from my work, so it shouldnt be to bad. and also anyone ever heard of Colrus Motors (484-1510), a guy at my work recommended him, he does really fast and apparently awesome work, pretty cheap as well. He said he would do my gasket for 400 $ labour, and also my little timing chain click for 400 as well, so it seems like a fairly good deal…
sorry about the 4 posts
Dont worry about.
