blown head gasket

so the other day i took my car for a drive for about 30 minutes or so, and i noticed that the temp gauge was reading almost H. i turned around and went to put it back in the garage, and as i was reversing i noticed there was a HUGE cloud of white smoke, i also noticed a sweet smell and it was leaking quite a bit of coolant, but i thought maybe the little coolant tank had maybe spilled or been overfilled.

i wont be having this car on the road till july or so, and then it’ll only be on for a month, but should i save that money for a sr swap? as for this car will not be running much, and if not how much would it cost to repair the head gasket?

Headgasket prices range. To do the work yourself, it could cost anywhere from 50-100$ (basically just for parts). IF the head is warped and needs to be machined by a shop, your looking at anywhere from 800$-1000$ for parts and labour. Since you dont plan on driving for ahwile, save up and do a swap. Unless you plan on doing a rebuild and maybe going turbo. (would be way cheaper then an SR swap.)

well, it doesnt smoke THAT much, just enough to kinda concern me, but i was thinking maybe theres a leak somewhere in the coolant lines, or the head gasket is blown, when i bought the car it kinda had a sweet smell when the car was idling, but it doesnt get driven alot, so an engine rebuild is probably my best bet, and a tranny swap

if its a KA just swap it. you can get one for cheap and some people even give them anyway for free.

It does not cost that much to machine the head, $60 to $70 to machine the head.

PM me. I can build you a very Reliable Ka-t.

If you do not have to drive the car, park it and save your money.
