2002 Sentra 1.8L Head Gasket

I have a leaking head gasket. I have 182k on my Sentra. My mechanic told me that the head should be checked for leaks as well. The estimate I got was $600 for gasket replacement and about $100 for assessment of the head. If the head is cracked it will cost me additional $300-$500 for head refurbishment/replacement. Overall I maybe looking at $1000-$1300. Another option I have is to replace the engine with a used one ($700~$1000) . If I proceed with engine replacement, what problems should I anticipate? If I replace it with same engine, what else needs to be replaced? Can this option turn out to be cheaper than the first one?

i would say swap the engine. and at the same time tell ur mechanic to put in a new water pump and timing belt.

itll be like having a new car.

after that you should be good for another 120k at the least…
