i changed my injector seals in my sohc, and they are still leaking… i bought a hole new seal set and installed them… i checked the injectors when i had them out they are liek brand new no cracks so i came to the conclusion that i installed them improper…is there any special way to put them in… i thought they set right but no good…i herd somethign about puting petrolum jelly on them when installed dont know if thats true or not…
thanks
Brent
happend to me and it was the injecter
there was no visable crack but they tend to leak around the plastic part
sooo my guess would be ur injecter because thats what happend to me
and i could swear it was leaking at the rail but it was in fact the injecter
Yes, apply some vasaline on the gaskets so they slide in smoothly. It prevents the ring from binding inside (rolling) up inside the bore of the rail.
I installed my 550’s like that with no problems.
Make sure to re-inspect the gaskets, and replace any torn ones.
Won’t Vaseline break down the rubber? (I know it’s not latex , but I’d prefer maybe some silicone lubricant instead) Just a suggestion.
Oil (petroleum product) may cause the rubber to swell up, from what I remember. I apply it lightly, so I don’t see any harmful effects it might cause. I’ve been taught the same way by several mechanics.
If your seriously causious, then you can try using a synthetic/silicon lubricant.
vaseline WILL break down rubber over time.
Why do you think they sell water based ‘personal’ lube?
Hah. Use the proper stuff
