Help with the GF's car...[03 Ford Focus ZX5 - Code P2257]

Yeah I did disconnect the battery, she’s driven 50 miles and it’s still on. Hmm…

test the relay, and if that checks out sounds like it could be the diverter valve or the pump itself…how much does the DV cost?

I can’t seem to find any info on this motor having a diverter valve, are you sure it’s not just on the SVT? Her car isn’t turbocharged so I dont see why it’d have a DV.

in the picture above, its listed as the “vacuum operated control and check valve”, it is essentially a diverter vavle lol. SVT’s don’t have one

That’s not the EGR valve is it?

they dont call it that because of the way the system is designed, but for all intents and purposes It might get called that at autozone I suppose. Chances are its the relay or the pump though.

I hate that I googled this lol but…

I know this was from a while ago but I’m having the same problem and I hope you guys can help. The CEL is on in my '06 Ford Focus 2.0 and is giving me P4091 and P4010. Took it to mechanic and he said that the pump was bad and needed to be replaced. Got one from Rock Auto for just under $200 and he installed it. I’ve driven 200+ miles on it and the light is still on…same codes. The mechanic mentioned something about the relay being replaced also; is that in the same area as the fuses? I haven’t found ANYTHING about a relay for the secondary air injection system, neither placement in the engine and where to buy one. Do you guys have any suggestions?? I’m in CA and I need to pass smog soon; not possible with the CEL on even though my emmisions are fine. Thank you in advance!!!

I don’t have a manual new enough to have information on the PZEV, but I would venture to guess that your owners manual should have a section on the fuses where it will tell you what the relays are for in that engine bay fuse panel near the firewall.

If not, I would try Focaljet.com
