And what if he got out of the car and saved her life…?
The prison system is so fucked. Most people commit crimes just to end up there. And CA is going to release 30k because ??? No fucking room!!
The current system, which holds more than 150,000 people in quarters meant for 80,000, is failing both inmates and taxpayers. Although California spends billions on incarceration, its recidivism rate is the second highest in the nation: 58 percent of released inmates return to prison within three years. The Pew Center on the States reports that 40 percent of these returns are for violations of parole rules such as missing appointments with a parole officer or failing a drug test – not for new crimes.
Definitely would not go to this scumbag after he couldnt stop to actually check and see on the girl, see if their was anything he could do for her “being a doctor” I was also informed he stopped at a convenience store before heading home. He really needs to get raped by bubba.
As usual with tragic deaths so many better decisions could have prevented this.
The biggest of course being not drinking and driving. At the same time, a skateboard in the road at 11:30pm isn’t a real good idea either. WGRZ.com has a video up now showing the memorial friends made at the side of the road and it’s hard not to notice the perfect sidewalk protected by a large road shoulder and grassy median.
People need to realize that just because they have a legal right to share the road with vehicles doesn’t mean it’s always a good idea. More than likely the investigation will prove the girl was legally using the shoulder of the road, but being legally right won’t bring her back.

I agree that yes, she could have used the sidewalk, But anyone that rides a skateboard will tell you… Side walk cracks are the worst for trying to ride. it can cause the board to suddenly stop dead with you still moving forward. This road has plenty of room for two skateboarders and the the car. Drinking is the only real cause to this death.
Yeah, not saying that she should have skateboarded on the sidewalk, just not skateboarded period and been on the sidewalk. Saying drinking is the only cause doesn’t help someone else avoid a tragedy like this in the future.
I skate at night all the time. While there is added risk to skating and riding bikes on the street at night it is still something I believe people should be able to do and enjoy. The issue here is the drunk person not the skateboarder. But as I said that there is deff added risk that comes with doing the activity on the road and especially at night. I try to only skate with someone at night for this reason.
Doctors save people all the time, its part of their job, but the same doctors aren’t running innocent people over drunk. Remove him and there is a lot of qualified doctors who can take his place.
Really? Ever been hit by a 3500+ pound object going 35-40? I was walking with a buddy from Tops to Buffalo State when he got clipped by a car. The person jammed the brakes and had slowed almost to a stop and it still punted his ass several feet. He got lucky and escaped with just a lot of bumps and bruises. If you really stop and think about the physics involved you’d probably use the sidewalk a lot more.
How about we wait until the investigation is done before piling on the speculation.
I agree. I watched a car slam on its brakes and knock a girl 10 feet going no more than 5mph. We can speculate all we want. If she was skate boarding away from the car she already had front momentum when she was hit with 3+ tons going 35mph is well enough to send her 20+ feet.
One thing I will comment on that I always do. I always, always, always, go against traffic. This atleast allows you an extra second of seeing what is coming at you and how they are driving. I will never walk, ride anything with traffic to my back.
Me too. I know the law says you need to go with traffic but if I’m not a 2000lb vehicle there’s no way in hell I’ll allow one at my back with no visibility.
I can likely get out of the way of that which I can see…if I can’t see it…not much a chance in dodging.
