HID kit on spec-v

SO i finally got my hi/low HID kit from a group buy on the vboard. and i am having trouble, it has a blue connector that fits the wires that connect to the car, the connector will not stay on the car! its ridiculous, so i didn’t use it and am goign to just put the wires in the connector of the car and electrical tape them.

anyone see a problem with this? also there is a slight ‘click’ almost a sparking kinda soudn when i turn the lights on, this can’t be good any ideas> thanks alot if anyone can help

and heres pics of the lights so far (passenger side is silverstar not stock)

also any spec guys, where do you think mounting would be good. i was thinkingn on passenger side on top of fuse box but driver side i dunno

oh yah heres the high beam comparisonk, the wedge bulbs are there for show i gues, they are about as bright as fogs jsut aimed up

no ideas? that sucks

ive never installed any HID so i cant really help you… maby try google? or post on thevboard and ask what everyone else did. goodluck man.

and looks good btw.

btw off topic but ill call around for that bumper painting soon. ive just had 9 midterms so ive been really busy.

I’d hate to bump an older thread, but how did these HID’s work out for you? Where did you get a high and low beam kit?
I’m starting to look into this with winter season coming and the highway driving I’ll be doing. When it’s snowing or rainy the stock headlights can really start to get dim when they get covered in dirt. (Why not pull over and clean them you say? Too lazy for now, so looking to buy something new and exciting so I don’t have to ever pull over to clean my headlights…)

yah there is almost no point in gettin a hi low kit unless its bixenon cause the wedge bulbs suck ass, they are pointless and the hid are good enough on the highway. but i got mine from a group buy on the vboard. but there are lots of good places to get them from now i saw a good group buy on a subaru board

but you can just buy off this site, i have heard no bad comments from ppl that bought it and i think kim gunna get them for my fogs.

Thanks for the link.

the folks on myspecv.com seem to go with a company called www.xenonlink.com

I was thinking to try go with the fog lights first, and see how I like driving with those. Maybe they will be enough so I can still have the highbeam as an option.

How did you mount your ballasts? From what I’ve seen it’s either drill holes and use brackets, or double sided tape.

Edit: Forgot to ask, but what color rating are you lights? (4300k, 8000k?)

my guess on his lights are 6K and i used double sided tape for the ballasts. 5 min install for plug and play application.

get the bixenon one from the site i reccemmened, it has 4 ballasts but oh well then you get high and low xenon. i had 6000k, i reccmone 4300k which is waht i have in my wrx, def alot brighter.

i used a bonding apoxy, it worked quite well, but doubel sided tape i find doesn’t work that well unless you get really good stuff

I ordered through that mydepots.com website you suggested.
H13 bi-xenon 4300k & H11 3000k, shipped to my door, ~$320.
Only took a week to arrive. I’m going to see if i can install them over this coming weekend when I’m back down to edmonton.

wow thats pretty cheap and fast! let me know how they turn out!

So I got the H11 kit installed. The wiring is straight forward. I used a couple of brackets that were laying around in the garage to mount the mount kits onto the car. One thing I do not like is having to just push exposed prongs into the factory harness plug for the fog light and wrapping it in electrical tape.
It certainly is brighter, the beam pattern onto my garage is different then the halogen fog light. It starts off green and becomes yellow. I’m also concerned with how they turn on. Sometimes I hit the switch and they will not turn on. So I go off then on again and they will go on. Also if I had to hit the high beams, they would not turn on again until I put the fog light switch to off then on. lol, that probably was very confusing, but I’ll continue to monitor this.

Now for the H13 bixenon kit, I found mount locations for the 2 ballasts and the 1 h/l controller. But… I received the h/l controller harness for an H-4 equipped car not an H-13 equipped car. So I’ve sent an e-mail off to the seller. Hopefully that all turns out well.

try a dealership they might fix it
