I was waiting for Jason’s response lol.
Oil changes are every 15k / once a year. So he most likely missed 1 or 2. That blows, BMW always takes care of the customer. They go above and beyond with the goodwill replacement.
I thought the M cars had a wierd oil change interval when they are new. like 1K or something for the first oil change
Tracking…
Interesting story so far.
I just did a quick estimate and the price I came up with is nowhere near $7000 so I don’t know where this guy got that number from.
M cars get a 1200 mile service which consists of an oil change, rear differential fluid change, transmission fluid change depending on model/year/type of transmission and a once over. After that it’s condition based or once a year if the mileage isn’t reached. I looked at this car over a month ago so I don’t remember exactly how many he had missed but I just happened to check history when I was about to order the parts. I noticed there weren’t enough oil change records and BMW would’ve bounced the claim immediately when they saw that.
Trust me, we take care of things like this for our good customers that buy and service their vehicles with us. We’ve covered repairs wayyyy out of warranty before.
I must say from my perspective there is way more to this story that what anyone here could possibly know. BMW as a manufacturer will go so far above and beyond to keep customers happy it is unlikely this has anything to do with Towne or BMW. I also know the dealer and he doesn’t blow people off because he feels like it. I would put this right in the car owners lap. Not to mention to B.S. with the sign that makes people think the car is under warranty and BMW is bowing him off tells me the car owner is full of it. Do the recommended services, be courteous and understand that warranties have a beginning and an end. Simple as that.
EDIT: saw goff’s posts… spot on.
Yeah, I got to say that the banner he put is definitely misleading and misinforming.
I wonder if Towne has a case against this guy:
Defamation—also called calumny, vilification, traducement, slander (for transitory statements), and libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation a negative or inferior image. This can be also any disparaging statement made by one person about another, which is communicated or published, whether true or false, depending on legal state. In Common Law it is usually a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant)
Seems like they have enough evidence to say the guys stupid stunt cost them potential buyers that may have been driving by.
They should sue him for $7k.
Sort of what’s been in the back of my mind since seeing this last night.
The funniest thing that could come of this, is if Towne presses charges and ruins this guy.
They should of put up a rebuttal banner, summarizing everything goff mentioned.
They already did, lol;
goff- any idea what the “vandalism” done to the car was? Or what was used?
I would probably assume that the term “vandalized” or “vandalism” should be used very, very loosely…coming from the mouth of the owner.
I’m out of town for training so I don’t know for sure what exactly was written on the car or what with. I’m sure I’ll know more Monday when I’m back to work.
Im just curious if it was actually damaged or the kid is being a sore pussy about his plan back-firing…prob. the latter of the two.
Makes the story even better that the kid DIDNT buy the car there or EVER have it checked at the dealer, yet when one thing goes wrong he wants everything for free, at least I know im not the only one with moron customers lol
I’d be willing to bet they wrote on the window with the same stuff they write sales numbers with and no real damage was done. Still, in the eyes of the law doing that to a legally parked car is vandalism and probably wasn’t a smart move by the dealership.
Would have been better off putting their response on one of their own cars and parking it right next to his. More than likely the guy would have done something to it at which point the dealership could press charges.
If you have the money to buy a $100,000+ car getting the service shouldn’t be that big of a deal or paying the $7,000 it cost to fix the car cause you didn’t pay for the services in the first place just my two cents
