Friend from another forum buys a Euro-delivery M3, arrives, and it's the wrong color.

Been following this for a couple of weeks now.

Looks like Jalopnik picked it up

This here is a link>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I actually feel bad for him.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Why is this a big deal?

Stupid BMW for have 2 paint colors named 1 letter off.

And I may be blind…but the atlantic blue car pictured doesnt seem to have the fancy blue interior…

boy does that suck. that really really really sucks.

It’s a first world problem, for sure.

But, John spent a LONG time figuring out the replacement color combination for his E46 M3, which is also stunning. The colors are significantly different.

I read about this on jalopnik. I really do feel bad for the guy.

From reading it they offered to swap the interior

Anybody who is complaining and saying this is a first world problem, probably doesn’t have the means to buy a car equivalent to what this guy is buying. I know he is stuck now, but it def. could be worse. They are offering him a refund, or to swap interior, or take a different interior with the color he wanted. They could force him to take the car since he bought it and basically owns it, but they are not.

LOL, in the jalopnik article, even the writer swip-swaps and says he wanted “atlantic blue” instead of the atlantis blue he meant to say in the third last paragraph. shame on BMW for making those two color that similar in name.

I completely agree with this.

This is one of his other cars. Stunning RS4 widebody conversion in Nogaro Blue.

at the end of the day is he spoiled? sure but who gives a fuck, he payed for what he payed for and deserves to get exactly that. doesnt matter what it is or how much or how rich he is, its that basic principle that he should get what he deserved when ordering this car. i feel bad for him, close or not, that sucks itd piss me off too after spending $80k+ however i still wouldve beat that thing into the ground on the 'Ring instead of taking the X1

The interior here ordered looks like something about of a APC catalog from 2003.

He should quit bitching and let a bodyshop swap the interior its not a GM im sure it will be fine.

Yeah, I’d be pretty upset too, even more when they start by saying “we’ll just repaint it!” on a $60k car. Same to the suggestion of just swapping the interior because I’m sorry nothing ever goes back together as well as it was first assembled.

And +1 to how stupid it is to have two color names that are only a single letter different like that.

The only reason this story ever got any air is because right now it’s fashionable to hate on rich people. Fuck the 1%.

I agree that interior is kinda ugly imho. I understand the guy just wants what he paid for thats all.

This.

I love how people are bashing him saying he shouldn’t be making a big deal out of it. This is no different than if you were sitting down for breakfast at a restaurant and you ordered bacon, and instead recieved “baconesque”…guess what you do…you fucking yell at the retard who messed it up until you get what you ordered, what you paid for…or you get your meal free. Of course this is a far grander version of that scenario…but it boils down to the same principals.

If you order something specific, and you pay for it, that’s exactly what you should get. You should not be expected to comprimise when THEY made the mistake. Somewhere along the build some idiot read that order form too quickly or read the can of paint too quickly and BAM the car is the wrong color. The mistake is their responsability, and for them to try to get him to compromise on a program that is specifically designed so that the customer gets everything they wanted done OEM is proposterous. The importance that the numbers all match is what he’s paying for…it’s no different from the vintage car market and how people pay a huge premium for cars that are “numbers matching”

^ What he said. First world problem, yes, but it’s the principle.

They should have just swapped the door panels and the seats to the correctly painted car and said b00m fixed.

He would have gone on never knowing and been happy.

Regardless of the owner, when did the M3 become suck a tacky looking car? :frowning:

If I were buying one, I’d go for the gaudiest color offered, too.

The guy paid more like $80k for it and flew to fucking Germany to take delivery. Fuck anyone who says they wouldn’t be upset about that. If I pay $80k, wait for it to be built, then plan a vacation to pick it up in another country, it better be the car I ordered.

Plus the Atlantic blue is hideous. I mean, maybe if it was a tolerable color like white, black or red, but that’s just a horrible color.
