Hines 1 Ben 0

Heath Miller does not have the athleticism or separation ability to get off the line quickly and get into position for a fade or flag route inside the 20. Miller is good player over the middle because he is a mis-match for LB’s, but he is not quick enough or athletic enough to be on the outside and out jump a CB for a TD.

Also, you can’t throw a pass blind over the middle to Miller if you are in trouble because there are too many bad things that can happen. Using a tall WR out on the boundary, you can blindly throw it to the corner of the end zone and you have the sideline and endline to protect you from INT, that is not the case in the middle of the field.

Also, the funny thing about this is Plex (and most tall WR’s) play a completely different position than a smallish player who is not blazing fast like Hines. Plex is a Split End, plays outside, stretches the field, uses mis-matches to make long plays. Hines is a flanker (sometimes referred to as a slot) that plays inside, off the line of scrimmage (so he doesn’t get jammed) and works the middle of the field as more of a possession style receiver.

Basically, this is like Ben saying “Damn, we could really use a big bruising fullback” and then Willie Parker getting upset about it. They both play what is called “running back” but they are drastically different positions.

morons, without ben, we would have won 4 games this year. let ben make demands, the steelers rely too much on the draft, rooneys need to spend some of the cash they got and go out and fuckin get someone

^ agreed with the last 2 posts

Obviously they are doing something right considering the success they have had the past 10-12 years.

And you can’t let the inmates run the asylum.

Typical yinzer.

agreed, a tall wide reciever is a GREAT target…any QB would want that.

Sure, Tom Brady did well before without Moss, but they werent 18-0 before until he got Moss  Tall fast recievers make it that much easier

Alot of ppl didnt care when Plex left…but he’s doing great now. I miss having him on the team, such a great target to throw to

To quote the super genius Mark Madden.

Just more of the same from
Wines Hard

ya if you consider 1 super bowl in 12 years good, pats have 4 in 7 by going out and gettin what they need to win instead of relying on who they drafted

he needs another heart attack

The steeler 2007 team was less than 5 million under the NFL Cap.
http://www.steelersalarycap.com/years/2007.htm

Exactly what are they going to get for 4.5 million, that they don’t already have? They are spending the cash, just maybe not as wisely as they could be…

  1. Ben Worthlessberger is over paid, thus causing him to think is as good as a Tom Brady. He’s not, may never be. Not that Brady is the best in the league, but he plays well in his system.

  2. They should have kept Plex. He and Ben were a good team. plex’s only problem is he only plays when the play involves him. He did in the burgh, and is still doing it.

  3. We, as all NFL teams, need options. A big tall wide out gives you those options.

  4. if a persons height doesn’t add to their ability to jump and make plays, why isn’t all of the NBA 5 foot guys? Not that a 5 footer cant bee great in the NBA, but it is the exception, not the rule.

They can’t pay him any less than what he is getting now, he is still being paid under his rookie contract and rookies are paid where they are drafted, nothing more nothing less.

I’m just glad I’m not a Steeler fan. All these fair-weather fans that do nothing but complain when they’re two years removed from a Super Bowl?

Good points I was mistaken in what I tought I knew. I was thinknig that he already got another contract for much more money. He’s sitting at about 3.1 mil right now.

Whats gonna happen when he is up for a contract and wants more money?

They’ll pay him out the ass, they don’t have any choice. The public outlash from the yinzer nation would sink the Rooneys and they pretty much know it.

You damn well know that Roethlisberger isn’t going to pull a Crosby and take less money in order to keep a solid team around him. He is going to go for as much as he can and then deal with the problems of that later.

ben isn’t a popular as you think… with no decent second option it would be foolish not to pay ben… i’m just sayin that people dont really like him because he’s not done anything to help his image around local establishments. he has a persona more fit for NY.

Of course i’m completely bias but its too bad bulger just signed a huge deal in STL because hes a good QB and isnt full of himself.

Yes, he is that popular. Even if he’s not, the schizophrenics known as Steeler nation will all the sudden love him once he is gone and blame someone (Colbert, Rooney, Tomlin, etc…) because he left. If they resign him, it will be for too much money, he doesn’t live up to expectations, he whines too much, etc…

No matter what, the Steelers and Ben can’t win.

And as far as his persona goes, have you ever physically dealt with him in a personal situation?? If you are going off 2nd hand knowledge, or what you “hear” in the media, that is not fair. I have dealt with him directly and have found him very accommodating and no different than any other customer I’ve really dealt with. Obviously he was very wary and reserved at first, but once he realized that both myself and the other person with me 1) Weren’t gigantic Steeler fans 2) Weren’t interested in his autograph, picture, or anything else and 3) Wanted to just treat him like anyone else, he was perfectly normal.

I could imagine him (or any other person really in the public eye) being short with people or perceived as something other than he is because of playing the most glamorous position on one of the most storied franchises in the countries favorite sport. I defy you to try and even think about what you’d be like in that position. I can’t even think of what it has to be like.

And you really have no idea what Marc Bulger is like. He might be a total prick in St. Louis, how would you know? Just because he is a Central grad doesn’t make him a class act or make it worth it for him to come here and play. That’s like assuming that every guy that dresses well is gay.

I feel so bad for some of these athletes and celebrities who get painted into a corner because if they are soft and forgiving, then people will milk them for every dime (read: Mike Webster) or if they are tough and require that they have some sort of personal life outside of football (or whatever their sport or job is) then they are a dick or are a big shot.

i grew up with him. he was on my first baseball team. his bro was one of my friends growing up and he was only two grades ahead of me. his family is some of the nicest people you will meet. i think two probowls gives him the creditbility to play here, i didnt say anything about him goin to central having anything to do with it. His dad was a QB @ ND and in the NFL so i think that has more to do with it than anything. as far as how he acts in STL…i can’t say i’m in on the scene there but my best friend lives there and i’m sure she would tell me if they were sayin marc did this or did that.

i never met barry bonds but i believe he’s a dick. i’m sure many could agree with that so why isn;t it ok to beleive stories about ben? I’m sure ben is a nice guy when he wants to be and i’m sure he’s a cocky asshole too… if you had steeler nation tellin u how great you were don’t you think you’d believe you were entitled to everything in this city too??

 You’re avoiding more questions than John Kerry.

Doesn’t matter how he was when he was on your first baseball team. Doesn’t matter how good a friend he was of yours when he was a kid. That shit don’t matter. You think people don’t change?

I grew up with a great kid on my first baseball team. Now he’s in jail for murdering his girlfriend. Doesn’t make him any better or worse of a friend when we were 8 years old.

You don’t know how Bulger acts in the Lou any different than you know how Ben acts here. It’s that simple. You’re just being like 95% of the Steeler fans in this town.

i know marc still to this day. so on a personal level the guy is still the same to me… I can;t speak for the average stranger thou.

as for ben… i’m just not gonna comment on him anymore, i dont wanna be labled a typical steeler fan :jerkit:
