The St. Louis police department says it has in custody an 18-year-old female believed to be the person who struck another woman in the head with an apparent crowbar during a violent fight caught on video.
Daily RFT posted the video Monday (and the same copy can be viewed at the end of this post). In the video, blood and what appears to be teeth or skull fragments can be seen flying from the victim’s head and landing next to her in the street. Onlookers who had been goading on the fight placed the convulsing victim in a car and drove from the scene.
Police also arrested last night a 20-year-old female who they say was another participant in the assault. Investigators plan to present the case to prosecutors today. At that point, warrants would be issued and the name of the suspects released.
The 19-year-old victim sought medical care after the attack and is continuing to recover from the incident that occurred at the intersection of 22nd and Dodier streets in the St. Louis Park neighborhood of north St. Louis. The police department was first made aware of the assault last weekend when the video clip began making the rounds on the Internet. Police say they received two 911 calls about a fight at that location on April 17. But when they arrived to the scene, no one was there.
Below is the video. Warning: It’s pretty graphic.
