hmmm... cheapest place for "large" monitors?

After the first I should have a nice chunk of change laying around from some side jobs I’ve been doing and want to get a nice widescreen lcd monitor… preferably 26-32". Anyone got any hookups and/or deals on them?

I wouldnt even mind buying refurbished if the price was right. Newegg didnt exactly have great deals on them. This is going to be primarily used for CAD/CAM work and some games (shit, maybe even double it as a TV)

26-32 inchmonitors?!? like 1000 and up there

i thin you’d be better off using dual like 19’s or 4 19’s or something

steve to get me a 21" :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got a 32" widescreen and I’ll never go back

But don’t bother looking for monitors - look for TVs. You can get a 32" for like $800 now that prices are so low. Just look to make sure it has a PC input option (looks just like a monitor plug on the back of the TV) before you buy it. Yeah there are other ways to hook them up, but that’s the simplest.

Also keep in mind a 1080i HDTV will have a max resolution of 1360x768. A 1080p can do 1920x1080.

Steve my bro found a 50" Wide screen Sony Vega for under $1500, it can be used as a monitor. Might want to look into something like that.

uhm 1360x768 is 720i/p, 1080i is also 1920x1080

look at monitors, refresh rates on TVs are still not that good

You’re right, but a 1080i TV still can’t do more than 1360x768 as a computer monitor. Why? Computers don’t output interlaced images, only progressive scan images.

So when buying a TV for use as a computer monitor, the highest resolution you’ll be able to see will be the highest progressive image the TV can display.

So like I said,

Sure you could have a video card that outputs an interlaced image to a TV, but it won’t look any good.

And for what he said he’d be using it for, the refresh rates will be more than enough.

for cad/cam I would not use that low of a resolution, nothing will properly fit the screen, he would be better off with a 24" for the drawing file itself and a 19" for the tools bars and preview. I am using a 20" widescreen and I juts switched to the 1360x768 and its just not enough realistate. Also when 3D modeling with surface finish you will want the refresh rate why orbiting the drawing

yeah, the resolution height would really kill it… I’m using 1600X1200 on a 21" right now and its not cutting the mustard so to speak… was looking to go as large as possible

I have no idea why anyone would want a giant screen low resolution computer monitor.

The suggestions in this thread would be worse than what’s already not “cutting the mustard”
