excellent is right, chase bay style brake tuck. I approve.
.
i like it. yet w/ the desire for going clean/shaved–and you going all out–why not completely shave the clutch/brake setup and mount them inboard under the dash race car style. two less items out under the hood.
.
let me rephrase-- reservoirs mount in engine bay or wherever they can gravity feed-- so hidden if you want under the cowl panel or completely under a dash. pending application, may be hidden to protect it, or open for easy access. thats neither here nor there.
What i was refering to-- clutch and brake masters mount under dash. alot of track or rally cars are like this. if by race cars are not like this you mean drag cars–i would agree, most are not like that until you get into high end door slamers. but for the weekend warrior or 12 second beater–no.
.
i love your car i cant wait till my cx is done. if you have any parts to sell let me know man.
what do you need i have alot of random shit. updates tonight
is that some kind of slip joint on the halo for the cage?
Curious as to why you’re caging a DD? Do you race with it all?
.
This is the best honda build thread I’ve ever seen…keep up the good work!
With that response, I’m not going to rehash the whole caging a DD is absurdly unsafe…but you have some clear issues with the structure. The forward hoops are very poorly designed, and not nearly as sturdy as they should be, they don’t appear to be able to withstand a rollover. Most of the instructors (which you’ll be required to have for your first several track sessions) would not sit in something designed like that. I’ve watched that happen a few times… Secondly, the instructor must have the same harness and seating arrangement as the driver. That means no bucket and 5pt for you and stock seat for them. My car is built for the track and never sees the street, but I had to follow the very same rules as you will. What tracks do you plan on driving?
That sleeve over section on the forward hoop? take a look at this: Rollcage wreck pics! - Honda-Tech - Honda Forum Discussion
More links about it on that page:
Driver survived after being airlifted out, then went back to rebuilding the car in a new chassis. Cage was completely constructed of “1.750” x 0.120” seamless mild steel (DOM)”.

The build thread for that car seems to be here (on page 10, he posts up about the accident, and page 11 has the pictures you posted above):
Page 12 and 13 is where he starts talking about the cage, and posting more pictures. A couple of pictures of the cage with the roof removed:
I got a link to some of that from BimmerForums discussion of cages and crash results:
^^wow thats intense^^

Aren’t you a rebel. :stick:
.
I don’t know what tracks you plan on driving but there are definitely instructor requirements for every track I’ve ever driven, period.
As for the cage, who cares how the company makes it, you bought it and safety is safety…and you don’t screw with that. When you step on track I suggest you leave your ego behind. The point is you are doing something for a street car that is unequivocally dangerous.
im pretty sure SW knows what they are doing man. i think you might be the one with the ego here im building my car for me not for you if it doesnt please you then make comments to yourself because i dont need your help,
i never once said the cage was cool, and better then anyone elses, and can be used at any track did i ? nope
i love the big words by the way
"The point is you are doing something for a street car that is unequivocally dangerous. "
when you make the rules for what i can and cant do then maybe ill change it.
were you the one that called about tubing a couple weeks ago?
cool idea did you already cut hte tubing for the cage? the only reason i ask rock crwler guys have ways they bolt the bars in that is really slick. i just ran across it the other day.
everyone has their own ideas. of course there is things you will do differentl y next time but it is all a learning experience.
i give you props for the work you have done so far.
i will try to find link for teh rock crawler bar ends
