Shorn of all unnecessary accoutrements and equipped with track-focused suspension, instruments and engine mapping, Honda is targeting club racers and track day fanatics with these new stripped-down CBRs. Both models feature variable rear ride height, slipper clutches, revised engine mapping, race exhausts and track instrumentation. But it’s what the CBR1000RR and CBR600RR come without that matters: no lights, no turn signals, no pillion pad and, of course, no license plate. Follow the jump to see the CBR600RR.

That’s cool but it seems like an unnecessary expense. Buying a brand new bike, with a title, to just track and have no street legal parts on it?
I guess if you have the money to pay $10k+ which is what I’m assuming they’re selling for, then go for it.
Best option at the end of the day to have a track-only bike is look for a title-less, or salvaged title bike and throw some race fairings on it. It’d be much cheaper. lol
This generation of 1k was plagued with cylinder and oil consumption issue which Honda never really fixed.
These are “race” package geared towards actually club race teams with an actual budget, or people that have the budget to build race bike with a completely new bike even at club level (not uncommon). Not for casual track day once a year riders.
