Hood/Car Painting cost

not when you consider where he is and his capabilities. he can barely squeeze a dirt modified chassis in his booth, and those chassis are about 3 feet wide.

Soooo…What does he do when he has to blend?

Basically he’s most likely lying. His dad probably paints body panels on the side orrrrr has done it once or twice…instantly “owns a body shop” after that.

I’ve been in a large majority of body shops in the region over the past few years, and now work in a large body shop. I’ve seen some HORRIBLE body shops, but I cant imagine not having a decent booth. Granted, I’ve seen a few body shops that HAVENT had a booth what so ever, but the quality of work was horrible

Whats the name of your dads shop and where is it located ?

i’m not lying. the address i can’t remember off the top of my head. he’s in Great Bend NY, the name is Villa Auto. Don’t bother trying to search for a website, there isn’t one, my dad is way too technologically challenged for that. the only keytag i have all the lettering rubbed off from my pocket, i’ll grab a new one, and take a picture of the front of the building for proof, and i’ll include something that says “specialkid” or “skidplate” or something identifiable. you could find it on google earth but it’s a pain in the ass. it’s a large red building with 6 overhead doors in the front if you care enough to search for it.

on the subject of blending- if he has to, he’ll mask off half the shop and do the blending right in one of the 2 bays. a full size car can fit into the booth, but the booth is in front of the other bay, so the car in that bay has to move, then the car to be painted goes into the booth, then the car in the bay goes back in
and there’s no room in the booth to walk around. it’s far easier to just get the panel painted in the booth, then do the blending in the shop.
his section of the building is very small, and very cramped.

97Cavy- he’s EVENTUALLY going to paint the ranger. somehow. i think he’s going to rent the booth that the place down the road has. when i bring it up here you can all judge the quality for yourselves

So it has 6 doors but only 2 bays :skid:skid:skid

only one section of the shop is rented to him.

Oh ok

Special kid being special again. Instead of cutting corners, save your allowance and buy a real paint job when you can afford one

OMG :rofl

Amazing!

LOL

i’ll admit i laughed.

Hahaha

no you cried

Wow…Never would’ve thought my question would lead to somebody realizing that their father may or may not actually love them…in a cartoon.

Anyway, what about a carbon fiber hood as a replacement instead of painting? Any reason why not?

Some people like CF, some dont. I like it on the right cars… when it fits the scheme of the over all car. I really like when the CF hood is painted with factory color and just slight features like a pin strip over a body line, hood scoop thats molded as part of the hood, or what ever is left bare cf then the entire thing is cleared over. We did an EvoX CF trunk like that, and left the aero lip on the trunk bare CF and faded the leading edge into the body color… its different and looks good when done properly.
