Hood too high on one side.

Hey guys, another stupid problem from zallow! :stuck_out_tongue:

I had this one since i bought the car but never actually really looked into until today. Was messing around with the car installing mods so I was wondering how I could resolve that one as well. My hood is too high on the driver’s side. Not that much, only like half a cm. But I can see it vibrate when I’m going on the highway and it kinda freaks me out a bit… :?

Here’s some pics (yes they were taken in a coca-cola warehouse, i work there, boss let me in to mess on my car, cause it was getting cold outside and don’t have a garage, hehe :P):

Good side (passenger)

You can see it’s clearly the hood, cause the fenders are perfectly aligned everywhere and on the last pic with the headlight, you can see the hood starts to go up a little more on top of the headlight assy.

I looked to see if there was some adjusting assy with the hood fixations, but it’s only a fixed hinge. So does that mean the driver side one is broken? How can i adjust this? I don’t want my hood bursting in my windshield on a really windy day or on the freeway. :stuck_out_tongue:

And yeah i know the car’s dirty. City is messing with the street in front of my house and it throws dirt in the air like a muthaf*cka. Also another reason why I couldn’t mess around with it at home, cause I can’t even get on my driveway! hehe

My dad smashed his Suzuki Swift while we still had one, and that’s exactly what the hood looked like when the car was repaired. It also happened to be a driver’s side collision, so it looked identical to what you have. If you’ve recently bought your car, that’s some food for thought.

everything looks tweaked. On the passenger side pic the headlight seems to be going upwards, and the hood sloping down then in the last pic the bumper and fender line up but hte headlight is way off. Maybe the frame is tweaked or mabye the hood just need a new hinge and some realignment of the headlight covers. whatever it is i wouldnt worry too much about it.

i bought the car from my cousin and the motor had to be swapped out, so prolly the car who did it wrongly adjusted the hood or something i dunno…, the frame is not bent or whatever i checked it before. My other 240’s frame is fucked so i know what it looks like. Anyway thanks for the info.

Haha, allrite, well glad to know that the frame is good! :thumleft:

Dood,

goto Nissan and buy a new hood hinge. That’s my final answer.

Happened on my old car…

Check for any cracking on the hinge and also check if it’s bent. It’s a common problem. Also, isn’t there a rubber piece that you can thread into the hood or fender, i don’t remember (maybe it was my other cars)…

If your cousin did the smart thing and took the hood off when he did the swap, he might not have gotten it aligned properly when he put it back.

The hinges are fixed, but the hood itself is adjustable.

Loosen the bolts for the hood (don’t take them all the way out)

Look where the bolts go into the hood, you should be able to see where they were aligned from the factory. The hoods are painted AFTER being installed, so you should easily be able to see where it’s supposed to go.

If everything looks like it’s lined up, it might be the hinge.
