There are about 12 Performance Boats signed up at this point. Included in the mix are a 39’ Cigarette, a 36’ Fountain, a 35’ Formula and then a couple of 100 mph hydroplanes, plus the Saris Racing Team out of Performance Marine, in Lake George.

Jim says it’s like any other outdoor event, where people don’t tend to sign up until they see the weather forcast just two or three days prior.

They have room for 50 performance cars in their lot. Anyone here got a fast car they’d like to bring?

Show is today. Weather looks great!

The good news is that this first time event was spectacular and a huge success. Today’s perfect weather was the icing on the cake.

Unfortunately, I had to fill in at work for someone at the last minute and missed most of it! I got there at 4:30 pm and there was still plenty to eat and drink and lots of cool boats and cars. However I missed the high speed run-by’s up the river that commenced about 2:30 pm. One of the club members had a radar gun there to record the speeds. There were several sleek high powered speed boats in the 87 to 95 mph range, with single or dual big block Chevies. However there were two that broke the 100 mph level.

The top spot went to this 28 foot Profile hydoplane from Lake George.

It was powered by a big 572 c.i. [Merlin block] Chevy with a GMC blower on top and two four barrel carbs. He was clocked at 115 mph!

I did get a shot of it leaving though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Second place went to a black twin engined 40 foot deep V. It’s run-by posted a great 101 mph. Somehow I didn’t get a picture of the boat itself, but look at what was under the engine cover!

I love this old flat bottom boat. With no windshield and no engine cover, this thing must be a blast to race around in.

It’s powered by a 455 Olds engine. Very cool.

They had a little of everything there!

These look like R/C models but they are actually tiny one person race boats with small outboards on them.

This was a very clean 383 powered Road Runner.

Here’s one you done see every day, a '56 Packard Clipper!

Adding to the festive atmosphere was a live band as well.

I asked what this crane was for and found out it is for lowering the mast on sail boats. Castleton on Husdon is the last marina before the low bridges and locks going north.

Everyone enjoyed the great food, the beautiful riverside views, the music, and the picnic type setting. I heard that they plan to do it again next summer. I sure hope so!

looks like a great time. growing up in that town, i’m sad to say i’ve never been across the tracks to the yacht club.

glad you guys had great weather for it as well.

Thanks crazybrew. Like I said earlier, they had a little of everything there. I forgot to include this picture.

The show was very interesting.

I was there. Super awesome time. Hopefully this even grows more and more. Saw some really cool stuff there. 100mph on the water looks A LOT faster than on land. Wild stuff.

Thanks for chiming in Danny. Did you learn of the event from this thread? I’m hoping this thread helped attendance.

Mike

10th boat pic down, Big Johns!
