We’re doing it again. The 6th Annual RodandPiston.com Super Cruise will be held Sunday July 13, 2008 at Fisherman’s Park on River Road in North Tonawanda, NY
This is a new location for 2008. It’s ½ mile (towards Tonawanda) from our previous location, Gratwick riverside Park
The show is set along the river making it scenic as well as a nice breeze
We have averaged 400-600 cars every year making us one of the largest one day shows in Western New York.
This event is open to classics, late models, sport compacts, trucks, and motorcycles.
I’m thinking it will pass. 5 years and only had a slight bit of sprinkles last year. Two news channels said the weather is going to be 82 and sunny, so I’ll go with that.
Basically the whole park is open to participant cars. We have 3 sections available to park in. 2 smaller areas with a decent amount of shade and one large area with some shade, with grass and paved parking. And then there is an area that is right on the water that probably 20 cars can get backed up onto.
Registration is from 9am to noon, but we might be getting it open early (by 8am)
is there going to be as much room as there was at Gratwick? i drive by that park all the time and it just seems smaller and not as wide open. i will be there rain or shine. This and the Tri-Five shows are my two favorite local shows of the year.
Also, not trying to be a prick about it, i dont know who classifies everything, but HHRs (even the new Panel) do not belong in truck or minitruck classes. they are fwd unibody vehicles and Chevy even classifies them as a car. They belong in the class a PT cruiser would be in at a show. Recent events the past few weeks and shows i brought my truck to or just went to, they have been placed in those classes.
Fisherman’s Park is deceiving. From the road it doesn’t look that big. Once you pull into the park and check it out, it is a good size. We figured 600 cars can fit in it with no problem.
As for classes, we changed the format from past years. We changed it to the way the Olcott show is running. With the 3 separate divisions, 88 and older, 89 and newer, and sport compact. We aren’t doing the kazillion awards like we did in the past either. We are trying to make it a more enjoyable event We even dropped the price of registration by $5 this year too.
And if you fish, bring your pole. A lot of people are planning on doing it actually. I’m contemplating making an award for biggest fish at this rate
thank you for clearing that up Joe. Though i have never had the chance to go to the Olcott show, everyone who i know that goes there yearly likes that format due to the size.
Got my fingers crossed. Talked to a lot of people today and there will be a ton of them at the show if the weather is good.
This is possibly our last show we do (RandP Super Cruise), so we hope it’s nice weather for it. Either changing format for the show and hoping for a big sponsor to come in and help us or taking a break for a few years.
