How do I use Seafoam?

so i bought some seafoam, and i want to put it in my car.

I know you can go through your gas tank.

but i would rather go directly through my throttle body.

can someone walk me through the steps on how to do it?

and should i have an empty tank of gas, or have some gas in my tank (using the tb method)

this is for a 95 jetta 2.0L.

thanks guys

your supposed to dump it into either A) carburator/FI system. B) vacuum line.

HELP!

wish i could help, never done this before but ide like to know how to cause i wanna get this stuff and use it

With warm engine running, SLOWLY poor 1/2 pint through carburator, throttle body or direct manifold vacuum line that will feed ALL CYLINDERS. Possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. Be sure exhaust is well ventilated. Fumes will be extreme for a short period of time.

this isnt going to fuck up my car, by pouring a liquid into my throttle body?

and it says 1/3 pint in my tb.

then i can put 1/3 pint into my gas tank.

and another 1/3 in my crankcase.

should i do all three?

I been doing this all the time…just read the directions/instructions, don’t use too much at once

just make usre you popur it very slowly…and if it stalls thats ok…crank the motor after 5 minutes

repeat every 2,000 to 5,000 miles

[edit] dunno about the gas tank and crankcase, never done it

The car is supposed to stall, if it doesnt your not doing it right.
ANdi have done it in my gas tank and crank case works good never any problems.

I usually do it with a special vacuum canister that i have at my shop. That is the best way cause you can adjust the flow into the intake

i’ve done it thru a vac line going to the intake manifold…to keep it from stalling i usually hold the revs up a lil bit, is that the right way to do it? just want to make sure since the question came up

i fuckin love this stuff it was soo easy to do on my e30 i just used the vacuum line going to my Intake mani to suck it up. the brake boost line works too. just stick it in the can and suck it all up and when you get close to the end of the can make sure you make the car stall out with it. i used to love driving around with the sweet james bond smoke screen behind my car. lol. and yeah i feathered my throttle to keep it from stalling out.

good info, prolly gonna do this

 it worked great.

me and newman did it to my car 30 mins ago.

we disconnected my air filter, held my intake piping upright, and slowly poured down into the TB.

the car did stall out.

stupid face newman then jumps in my car and attempts to restart it. i then told him to let it sit for 5 mins.

after about 10 i attempt to start it, its having a hard time starting (bogging down and shit)…then it starts…roughly idles.

then wham, white smoke EVERYWHERE. I enjoyed driving down the street and having everyone panic, watching my car burn dat nasty azz carbon away.

even newman noticed while i was driving the car is a lot better, with idling and such not.

Your supposed to give the car throttle while you poor it in or use an injection kit…the idea is to not let it stall out…and you add throttle so you don’t hyrdo lock it.

Mazda has an orifice that they sell to regulate the flow. I’m thinking I could do something similar with one of my fuel line clamps and a short length of hose.

Oh yeah, you can also put this stuff in with your oil, and it is supposed to clean things out in the crankcase, too. Just don’t leave it in there for 3000 miles, and don’t beat on the car too much as your oil will be thinned out a bit from the SeaFoam. You are supposed to change the oil after either of the treatments, though.

maybe now you would lose to me

I was just looking into doing this to my car and then i saw this
And the idea of tons of white smoke sounds great

bumpity bump

seafoam rocks. just used it on my 'bird, white smoke everywhere

and the throttle response is back and the butt dyno reports a touch more power… meh

feels pretty good. changed the oil right after (BLACK) and haven’t even changed the plugs yet(hot engine & aluminum heads :touchy: ), and it runs like a champ

Is that the stuff? 1/3 tank, 1/3 intake mani, 1/3 oil right? How many miles do you leave it in your oil?

damn joel, i think i may have to try this crap out. any idea if its just as safe on a turbo car? with it in the oil and all im a bit concerned
