How is your boost guage hooked up???

Todays question,

step by step and pics would be the ultimate and awsome

Thanks guys

#1 run the vaccum line throu the firewall

#2 T it into a Vaccum line on the manifold side

#3 put the Gauge were you would like it “dash, pillar, under stereo”

#3 run your power/ground and dimmer wire if you plan to use a dimmer

#4 wire the power to your ignition so it turns on with the car

pretty easy… “no instructions with the gauge?”

haha, i think he means which vacuum line on an SR to hook it up to

I ran mine off the same line as my BOV was hooked up to. (so top left of the TB)

same way as pavel

doesnt going off your wastegate line only give you a boost reading ?

and not vaccum as well ?

I teed off the FPR vacuum line.

mines off the fpr… then again so is my bov.

so in theory everything should still read normally and you will get a vac reading too

GT

Ya I got it, YAY not I know what I am running

Pav I still want that Boost controller if you have it, my car was not moving so that is why I could not make it us there to get it

i feel dumb asking this but what is the fpr line and where is it??

fuel pressure regulator

it comes off the mani after the throttle body and goes into the fpr.

you want a signal that shows boost and vaccum so that the vaccum part of your gauge works.

unless you have the kind of gauge that only shows positive pressure, then it doesnt matter so much i guess, except it will bounce up to high boost whenever you close the throttle plate, then again its a good way to see how well your bov is working

fpr = fuel pressure regulator.

It’s the little space ship looking thing at the end of your fuel rail

awesome thanks alot guys

depends on what boost you want to reference ?

if you want actual turbo boost then mount i as close to the turbo compressed air outlet as possible. if you want the manifold side then pick oup off say the BOV or FPR , use a heavy large bore hose to get fast and accurate reads…

i had mine hooked up off the FPR, i dont trust it tho, if somethign ever happens there because of a T being installed bad things can happen, i’ve got a dedicated vaccuum bung for boost gauge and wategate on my new Plenum.

hahahaha,
make it so #1

The SR throttle has two nipples for post-throttle vaccum.

As well as the FPR. There is also the hose for your brake booster although I don’t trust that.

Look at the pic below of the SR throttle.

There is a 4mm and a 6mm barb on top of the throttle for post-throttle
signal. Then there’s the 4mm barb on the bottom for pre-throttle signal.

Here’s an interesting idea if you can fab somethning up.

You can build a custom distribution block from aluminum. This block
can get its source from the large barb on the throttle and then it can
distribute it to any hose that needs it (BOV, EVC, wastegate, boost gauge).

That’s something I’d do rather then having all these tees going from the
FPR/throttle, etc.

Golden Eagle makes a cool distibution block.

i will prolly try that. i can make one easily, im doing a tool and die apprenticeship.

princess auto sells aluminum annodized air distribution blocks cheap cheap.

like 4 npt 3\8’s holes, for $5.00 or something.

Yup, I forgot to suggest that. They have these for a lot of the air-compressor stuff.

That, along with some barbs and you have a nice clean vac distributino block.
