I finally retired my 3.2mp Sony DSC-P7 that I bought in December of 2002 for $400.
It held up to a lot of abuse and drunken shenanigans, and took some pretty good pictures for only being a 3.2mp point and shoot. It had 7,350 pics and mpgs on it upon retiring.
The replacement is the 12.1mp Sony DSC-W200. I thought about getting a DSLR, but I wanted pocket size or I’d never end up taking it anywhere. Anyway, big improvement. Picture quality and features are obviously way better, and its about half the size. Currently on pic 50.
7400 out of my Canon Rebel XT since November of last year. I think about 1500 of them were at SEMA alone. Think I’ll hit 10,000 easily before SEMA this year.
6mpxl, sonyw50 point n shoot camera is 1yr old, dont use it that often unless i go on a trip, but so far its logged…7335total, my old nikon had a couple thousand as well
good god 12.1 mp. seems like overkill for point and shoot.
what size memory card?

Eh, it probably is, but I dont buy cameras very often so I figured what the hell. It has 31mb internal and I got a 1gb card, so about enough for 250 pics. I’ll probably get a bigger card before I go on any trips.

where in the menu do you see the number of photos taken?
I have a sony.

Sonys save their images with the filename DSCxxxxx.jpg, where the xxxxx is the number picture taken since the camera was new (or since you reset the counter). If its ever been reset for any reason, I dont think there is another counter that you can check.
