How much is my car worth?

It think I just saw this. Were you on the 90 west at like 9?

i think he lives in detroit.

I live in Detroit but I am in Buffalo a lot. But I was not there on the 28th.

My friend came and test drove it the other day. I think the onramp romp sold him immediately. He is a former Chrysler employee that worked in the SRT group and drove a CTS-V as a competitive test vehicle.
We agreed on a price and a tentive date. So mid-August I will be V-less.

Down here I have seen similar CTSv go for the 17k range, just because I live in the “America… FUCK YA!” region.

whatd you agree on for price?

$16k
I wanted 16.5 but honestly the paint is far from perfect and I am not going to fight over $500. The car has been great for 3 years and time to move on.
I am keeping the spare set of rims and some other parts that I can get a grand for, as well.

Also, big thanks to Don for helping me sort it out and get the stock shifter back in. Totally different driving experience.

I will probably pickup a 09’ CTS-V late winter or early spring unless something pops up sooner. I have a beater but I got something else in mind to pick up for the winter, so stay posted.

How much are those 09 CTS-V’s going for now?

High 40’s is the best I am finding.
Unless I find a great deal, no point in buying something and drive for 2 months then store. Plus pay a hefty insurance bill. Between depriciation and other cost I will easily save 7 grand by waiting till next year.

^good logic… i think 7k is a bit pessimistic… its a gm… you’ll save atleast 10k with 6 winter months… :i keed:

ps, i like the new ones…

Yeah, I deffinitely love the new V’s!

Yes the new V’s blow the old ones out of the water!
why not look at something german? Porsche Turbo? i mean for the money that you would spend on the V you could get a Turbo!
i mean both are badass cars!

4 door super sedan… vs a 2 dr turbo car…

not exactly the same class…

I hear you want a car for your family… how about a zx10r.

I say the new and old ones are completely different vehicles.

The 04 - 07 are raw NA cars that weigh 3,850
The 09+ are refined SC cars that weigh 4,250

As for other cars you can get for the same kind of money. I will take a look for sure. But few things sell me like Cadillac’s 6 year 100,000 mile certified bumper to bumper warranty.
Any Porsche turbo under $50k will probably be out of warranty and my family has had experience with German reliability (including Porsches, BMWs and Audis) and I am not looking to roll the dice. Great cars but I don’t want to be car poor due to repairs (lets not turn this into a German quality thread).

Plus I don’t think I want a 2 door, 2 seater (the little shelves in the back of a Porsche don’t count as seats.)

yea i totally agree with shelves as back seats in the Porsche lol.

I can’t say i wouldnt mind having the 6 year 100,000 mile warranty also! i mean your still getting one bad ass car! and the best part is that its a sedan and it makes crazy power haha!!
nothing like good american muscle lol!

And at least to me, a -V is going to be a lot more unique than some 996 'Turbo that you Viper’d™

^such a dick…

yet im loling.

i don’t get, in the same breath, saving $7k by waiting 6 months, selling CTS-V for $16k and then buying a slightly new one for $40k+…

you’re buying a $20k depreciation over the warranty period.

Here’s me being able to afford buying a new(er) car for myself but not being interested in that whole deal

I don’t completely follow.
The newer one is 5 years newer and 556 HP.
I am selling mine now since there is a better market then in the winter. Plus I won’t get as much on trade if I went that route and the state of Michigan makes you pay full tax on the new vehicle not net of trade like NY so no benefit there either.

Also the 2009 CTS-V hit dealers lots in late fall 2008, so they won’t be 2 years old until this fall. On top of that the 2011 CTS-V sedans and coupes are just getting onto dealers lots, plus the wagons are coming soon so some guys will be trading in their 2009’s for one of those. So I predict a drop in the 2009 values in the next 3 or 4 months.

I guess I don’t follow why I should hold on to a car for 6 months and pay insurance on it when I will keep it on the road for less than half of that due to bad weather and snow.
Basiclly. money in the bank earns interest. A car under a cover cost money and depreciates.

New CTS-V’s are dope. Can’t wait to see what you snatch up.
