How much is my car worth?

So I am planning on selling my 2004 Cadillac CTS-V in August.
I have had multiple people tell me they want the car, but no one with an offer just asking me what I want for it. This post is not trying to generate interest in buying my car, just trying to price it.
There are usually a couple of these on ebay, but it is not a very common car with less that 2,500 produced in 2004. These cars came fully equipped (LS6, HID, NAVi, 4 piston Brembos all the way around, Bose, etc) with the only option being sunroof which this has.
I have done what I consider tasteful mods including:
Corsa Exhaust, GM accessory wheels, GM Performance Parts Drilled Rotors and Hawk HPS Pads, K&N Drop-in, 3M PPF, 50% Tint, Clear fogs, 55w 4,500k fog HIDs, WW Smoked Sidemarkers, LED interior and exterior lights, B&M Short Shifter and CAGS removal

Car is in overall good shape, both the front and rear bumper need some help. Front has some paint chipping from flexing and the rear has some chipping as well. Definitely a great 10 foot car but in no way is it perfect for a 7 year old car. Never tracked and only highway ramp fun for the most part. Currently sitting at 74k and probably 75k when I go to sell it.

One of the key selling features in the GMPP which is good through 84k or the end of this October so the new owner does not need to worry about any major problems off the bat and can re-up if they see fit.

KBB fair is $15k and $16.5 is good

I will miss the car, I have not heard a more beautiful exhaust note than when I make a 3rd gear pull through the tunnels.

Here are some pictures:

Only picture I have of the new fogs:

Also, the buyer can chose the rims they want but more than likely I will keep the second set unless the offer is right.

So what would you ask if the car was yours? I know if I sell it for less than $16k I will have a 100 people say “if you would have told me you were selling it for that cheap I would have bought it in a second”.

This car is awesome. If I had the cash I would take it off your hands. So much fun. Fast and comfortable.

What’s next?

dude those brakes are stock??

holy balls

If you price it at the good rating of $16,500, I would not hesitate one second to buy that car…if I were in the market. Shit, you could have said $20k and I’d still think it was a decent price.

yeah im surprised that kbb is only $16.5k but an educated buyer will know that and i don’t think you can price yourself out of the market

75k miles is probably mid-slightly high for a car like this as well.

Yes it should be noted that the hands of Don have graced this car, and he will be seeing it again before it is gone. It is an amazing cruising vehicle. I have enjoyed the past three years of ownership.
As for what is next, I have been less than snky. I am selling this while the market is stronger in the summer and looking to pick up a newer 2009+ CTS-V this winter/spring. Maybe pickup a STS-4 for the winter mothership.

Yeah those are the rears. Calipers are stock, rotors (same size 14.1") have been swapped for the cross drilled variety

Hard to say a 7 year old vehicle with 75k is high but I hear what you are saying. LS6 should run forever, at least that is the rumor I have heard.

Just look at what they are going for on autotrader to get an idea, shouldn’t be hard to find a comparable CTS-V. Just look out for salvage titles if you see one with an extremely low price.

Since I am not sure if this adds value:
It was a California car and has not seen a winter since I have owned it. Don has been under it and can speak to how clean it is.

will you be listing it for sale here in the summer?

I think this does add “comfort” in buying in WNY but not for non-salt areas. Rust will devalue a car but cleanliness will only firm the price.

I think $19.5 asking and $16.5 bottom line offer. That’s 15% swing, which is fair.

Keep the second set of wheels.

Like I said I have a couple friends that have expressed interest and I will give them first crack at it.
I don’t want to deal with the “test drives” from people that just want to drive the car. But I guess if someone is willing to drive to MI to look at the car they would be serious.

Still have all the stock stuff? I know some people do not want the short shift or the exhaust on cars.

I’d take an offer of 16.5k if someone threw it out there. Not too many people are going to be looking to buy a RWD car in August that they’d have to store or drop another $1000 for snow wheels.

You should list the car now if you want it gone by winter- first few people to see it are usually not the buyer anyways.

Yeah, no salt will add a few grand for the headaches avoided in my mind.

X…

Stock shifter is going back on before the sale. The short shift is loud and most people have trouble with it. I can throw in the sidemarkers and if the buyer doesn’t want the fog setup I can swap it out for stock ones.
Exhaust was one piece and therefore difficult to transport and store, so it was junked. Corsa made the GM performance parts exhaust so it does not affect the warranty. Plus at highway speeds it is barely noticable and no drone. Just sounds like a beast when you get on it. I have never heard anyone not like it, so the new owner will either love it or leave it.

Thanks for the input on when to sell it, but I have my plan and if it doesn’t work I will keep it and trade it in on my new one. I got a wheel bearing and some other stuff to get done before it goes up for sale plus I want to get some fun out of it this summer before I move it. I still love the car and get constant compliments and questions.

after the usual BS negotiating I would expect you to get a final 17k out of this.

I’d go ebay on this with a starting price of 16,900 and a buy it now of 19,500.

It all depends on how quick you want to sell it.

Aren’t you talking about selling this months from now?

Anyone that digs will figure out that the car lived in WNY and Detroit, not exactly the same as buying a car that was registered its entire life in the South.

I’d agree with the advise to just list it now so you aren’t trying to sell in winter, but that is up to you.

Why??? Some some faggot ass fuck stick broke fucking kid can buy it and then back out of the deal? Fuck that shit, as a seller you can’t even give the fucker negative feedback. What the fuck is that shit?

plenty of people have good experiences. on a somewhat rare car it will give the most exposure to possible sellers of any place on the web. I wouldn’t recommend it for chevy cobalt, but on something like this and the demographics of the typical buyer it’s a great value. simply put, it gets the job done.

From what I see selling on craigslist and eBay they usually do about $12.5-14.5K

More along the lies of what I was thinking. It’s high miles for a “specialty car” but has some extras that make up for that. Ron, I’d take any offer over 15,000. It will wholesale around 13,500-14,000 but it’s tough being this late in the season.
