lol
hahaha
lol that looks like kurt rappold. i grew up with that kid.
dead battery I doubt, battery wouldnt be under the bonnet. Besides it should have a recoil. My guess would be a failed ebrake or cable, if its anything other then that the guy is really dumb.
True, but have you ever tried to pull start a large outboard? Besides that, the majority of them I’ve seen don’t have a recoil, just a place to wrap an emergency pull start around and get one pull. I tried it once on a 50 merc with a dead battery and it was damn near impossible with the “yank, wrap rope around pully, repeat” process.
The bonnet being off the outboard probably has something to do with it, just not sure what. Otherwise it’s just a real shitty day for that guy. Not only did his boat not start but now his truck is totaled.
EDIT:
I’d love to know if the trailer was still attached. I was tempted to pull up close enough to see but figured those cops would have gotten pissed for “getting in the way”. Despite the fact that they were doing nothing but standing around with their thumbs up their asses making it impossible for anyone to use the other ramps with a big storm coming (glad I didn’t launch there).
lol… people suck.
Wow, at least it wasn’t blocking the whole launch. classic lol
I was wondering the same thing. He might have been trying to put the boat back on the truck though and had something go wrong.
Fail
I’ve seen guys do this before. THe truck will stay on the ramp usually with it in drive. They are in a rush, and forget to put it in park and lock the brake, and its barely holding, but is. They get in the boat, hit the trailer with a good bit of speed, and the boat locks on the carpeted runners. Now all that weight has rocked the truck forward, and is out of the water, adding weight and offsetting the balance. Next thing the whole getup is getting drug in, and if you don’t gun the boat to push it back forward, you will lose the whole setup.
lol… soooo shitty… i cant get over it.
Bump
We were talking about the crazy stuff we’ve seen at boat ramps today and it got me searching for this thread. Good for a TBT laugh.

About 2 weeks ago in Lewiston.
This is fucking crazy lol
Never seen water
I forgot to put my jeep in park when launching once. Once.
Forgot the plug, but I think everyone has done that at least one time.
Forgot to attach a line to the stern when rushing to launch as a storm moved in. That was fun. I had to stand thigh deep in 45 degree water and 30 mph winds holding onto side of the boat to keep it from beaching on the rocks next to the ramp, while my wife’s uncle scrambled on board to tie off the line. What cluster fuck that turned into.
Yep, I did the plug one once on my old boat that had the rubber snap plug that goes in from the inside. Not a big deal, just tossed the plug in and then did the trick where you take the plug out while on plane and let the water run back out.
I would never leave my vehicle where it could roll away. Ever.
Forgot plug once on a buddy’s boat last year. Well actually it was a brand new dealer stock boat. I was driving boat, he was trailering. I was waiting for him after launching, auto bilge comes on…hmmm that’s strange. Lift seat, IMMEDIATE PANIC. He backed the trailer back pretty quickly after I yelled to him. Disaster avoided lol.
