How to Change Wireless Router Password?

I have a linksys and just wondering whats the easiest way to change the password so no one in my neighbor hood can steal my internet. I have a mac also.

Login to the admin panel via web browser. Check the instructions that came with the router, they will guide you and supply the stock login info. I would look into mac address filtering and if you’re super paranoid also use some kind of encryption passphrase.

Open a browser, type in 192.168.1.1 name: admin pw: admin, then find the wireless settings, configure it for WPA2 Personal AES encryption. Type in your password, save, good to go… MAC filtering is silly and pointless, causing more headaches than its worth. Its very easy to get around, at the expense of having to add new MAC addresses for every new wireless device.

Very Simple.

MEH. If someone wants to clone mac addy they are more than welcome to use my router. LOL.
I opted for mac filtering because not all my client devices support wpa2.
A combo of both isn’t a bad thing either.

some of the newer routers aren’t using 192.168.1.1, so you will need to run a tracert to figure out the ip address of the router…

leet whats your address?

Let me sit outside and capture your packets

linksys uses 192.168.1.1
netgear uses 10.0.0.1

at least thats how its been with all of my experiences with both brands.

I’m in the phonebook. If someone really wants to bother with all that shit…SIGH.
Go to fucking starbucks or something…probably get more interesting shit from their data than my home setup.

Just saying brah

You should encrypt your shit

I had to use the old password on that site just so you know. Thanks for the help. That was easy. lol

I hear ya. Especially now that I invited you over to hack my shit.
My porn viewing and COD playing on PS3 is probably not going to amuse you though.
WPA2 really is the way to go, you won’t catch me denying that.
