Anybody here had to deal with this? The thread on the shifter is smaller than those in the s15 knob. So basically, the knob is free to spin on top of the shifter. Is there a way to make it fit on there so it’s nice and tight? Or maybe a s15 shifter would fit in the stock 240sx tranny?

i would suggest trying t find a sleeve with threads on the inside and outside that reduces the diameter.
i know they exist im just not swure where you might get one in your area

we sell this thread repair goop at partsource that you could use. just pour some in, then jam the shifter down, position it and it should be good…or just JB weld the mofo.
There are some plastic goop products you get that basically you heat them up slightly and then when they cool they become hardened plastic. I’d fill the S15 shifter with that and then drill and tap them. If you JB weld or soething that shifter isn’t coming off… and if you need to take apart your interior or take your shifter you’re basically fucked.
