How-to: Make Your Own High Flow Stock Air Box

How quick does it durtty up?

i’ve heard that the engine revs quicker and sounds louder, any truth to it?

To my mod?

Yes it sounds louder because the intake resinator was removed.
It’s defenatly more REV happy and the acceleration is honestly a large improvemt. Im not saying i gain like 30% more HP but the car does feel more peppy.

i wanna try the short intake running where the battery is. Wonder wut that does

i already have the resonator off, i never notriced a difference, well i’ll experiment this weekend

HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!

What the hell? Pantyhose air filter? Are you for real Adam?

I have a spare OBX conical filter. Maybe I should list it in the FS…dunno
what it’s worth…

$5 and ill take it. Need it for the 323.

$5 and you can kiss my ass.

I said maybe…dunno if my rice-boy bro wants to use it on his pimpin 91 Escort. Or maybe throw it in my dad’s 98 Contour. :stuck_out_tongue:

well, i cut the bottom off of the airbox, but i left the backside on so i could run that stock plactic tube from the fender on.

It sounds mean from inside the car, at WOT at 4000k to redline all i can hear is a roar coming from the engine, and the best part is i can’t hear the exhaust leak over it

YEEEAH EXHAUST LEAKS!!!

I love my exhaust leak. :stuck_out_tongue:

doesnt dirty fast, and gives it a nice deep noise.

so… run this down again… with no pantyhose

remove the bottom part of the air box… leaving the filter and the top half of the airbox and the rest of the tubing in place?

how will the filter stay in place?

thanks

the filter is mushed inbetween the top and bottom parts. and u wanna leave all the parts that hold the air box in place.

so just remove the piping connecting the airbox to the intake in the fender?

That pipe is the so-called “y-pipe” that also connects to the intake resonator below. Take that out, then cut some 1" wide slits inbetween the support lines in the front of the lower section of the airbox. That’s what I did and it made a really big difference, both in sound and throttle response.

^^^ Is ghey, thats exactly what I did. THEIF!!!

sweet deal…ill try it out and let you know how it goes

it worked… great improvment on the throttle response… i can only notice a difference in the sound over 4000 rpm as i have an exhaust system

excellent mod all together!!
thanks guys
