How to properly paint flexible aero, urethane, rims ?

Hey guys I never tried doing bodywork on plastic/urethane parts such as the zenki s13 front bumper. I am wondering what if the process is the same and what is best to use.

  1. primer, what kind of primer is good, some primers seem to stay soft under the paint ?
  2. paint, what kind of paint is best ?
  3. clearcoat/finish, what to use for this ?

I also have 4 beat up stock 7spokes, I was thinking about painting them, what type of paint is best (I heard canadian tire ones suck), which primer, and which finish? this is so that when they mount new tires on them so that the paint doesnt scratch off when they put the rim on the hub of the wheel balancer. (I know rims should be powdercoated, but i dont really care for that cause theyr my drift wheels)

let me know, appreciated

  1. Use a plastic adhesion promoter/primer.

After that you can spray on any combination of automotive paint and or clearcoat. If you dont use the above mentioned primer your paint will crack and peel under light stress.

I had my lip painted in this manner and it has held up amazingly well even after numerous scuffs and bumps. You should be able to buy it in a spray bomb if you plan on a DIY job.

eurethane paint

Any of the larger automotive paint companies will have a ‘flex additive’ for sale, a little goes along way, you may need a 2-3% mix to your paint and that’s it.

thanks, i’ll be looking into that today
