Yesterday afternoon, Public Safety was notified of a vehicle driving erratically (jumping off the curb at a high rate of speed, backing up at a high rate of speed) from the south lawn to the visitor’s lot / Holiday Drive area.
Public Safety officers responded and were able to stop the vehicle.
The driver, an HVCC student, immediately became belligerent and verbally abusive to the officers. He also had no identification nor could he present a driver’s license.
An arrest was made. The driver was charged with disorderly conduct, unsafe backing and reckless driving.
He was also suspended from classes.
I wish to remind students and faculty / staff to drive safely, to obey vehicle and traffic laws and to report any reckless driving to Public Safety.
Remember to also carry your HVCC ID and be able to present the ID to college officials when requested.
