hydraulic lifter into solid lifter

Is there a way to turn one of my old hydraulic lifters into a solid lifter? I don’t want to remove the springs from my heads to do the dial indicator method of checking the PV clearance - going to use clay so I can check the edge clearance too.

I’ve seen you can invert the insides to make it solid, but I’m not sure this is applicable to the LT1 stock lifters. Someone at work suggested removing the insides and epoxying it.

if i am not mistaken, those are roller lifters, and if they are the cam is billet steel, i have put solid roller lifters on hydraulic (roller) cams myself, i have done this in mustangs, you just need to make sure you have some type of rev-limiter…i’m not sure of turning the inside of the lifter upside down, but take it apart and check it out, i don’t think there will be any place for the pushrod to sit if you do that but you could take it apart and see…

he just wants to do it to check piston to valve clearence
and i’m not sure about the lt1s

I think I’m ready to say screw it. Lots of people have run a lot more lift and duration without any piston to valve clearance issues. I’m probably just wasting my time.

And tonight I found out two of the valve spring shims are going to interefere with the head bolts/washers.
