Hypermiler roll call!

Anyone? Noone? Beuler? Didn’t think so.

Wayne Gerdes, who runs a Web site dedicated to high mileage (www.cleanmpg.com) and claims to have coined the term hypermiling, lists a variety of other techniques:
<LI class=textBodyBlack nd=“11”>Parking on the highest point of a lot, facing toward the exit, in order to let gravity do the work of getting the car moving.

  • Drafting off the rear right corner of a tractor-trailer to reduce wind resistance while still allowing the rig’s driver to see you. Gerdes recommends following the truck at a gap of about one second…

60+MPG eh? I get 16… and i dont care…

Sounds like you have a problem.

Drafting tractor trailers is great for long distance hauls where you can actually see a difference in mpg. For everyday commuting it may be a bit ridiculous.
