hypotheticaly speaking, is it bad to...

try to avoid having a moron hired at your workplace.

ex. there is 60+ y/o guy that was a waste of space who was
laid off when the new parent company chopped the headcount.

well, his buddy the phd mechanical engineer needs a little help.
(since engineering went from 7 people to 3)
and wants to get him in part time to help him out.

he was hired to help the electrical engineer and myself initially, but we could not stand dealing with him, so we never asked him for anything.

after timing the daily smoke breaks of the phd and tech for one day, it would have added up to an additional weeks paid vacation for a normal employee over a one year period. thats not even adding the two together.

how can I let this guy get back in the door?
/rant

he also did not seem to like it when i said stuff like " back in nam we had to do it this way" since he was in fact in nam…

Sounds like you’re screwed. It’d be unethical to “sabatoge” the guy in some way. Maybe you could go to your manager (as long as it’s not the PhD buddy) and express that you’ve worked with that guy before and found his performance to, um, lag behind your own or something like that. :gotme:

the best part is, when others in production hear… they say
“OMFG you have got to be kidding”, etc…

lol

ethics are overrated
